“Dated room. Good location. Reactive rather than proactive service. Poor value.”

I booked my family vacation trip online through Disney Vacations, and it was a straightforward process, no-hassle. I am staying several nights in 3rd floor Tokelau, garden view room. My room is of ample size, it does not feel cramped. Convenience to monorail and boat a huge plus. But I shut off the heat tonight and asked Front Desk for room-change in the same building for tomorrow, because of incessant loud rattling all night coming from my room's vent duct when heat is turned on. Decor is dated, but bed is comfortable. A small infant crib was provided as requested, but only after I had spoken to four different hotel reps by phone pre-arrival, in person at front desk, and then again by phoning from my room several hours post-arrival. In retrospect, I may have been able to make a better choice by booking us into the Grand Floridian resort, because cribs do not come standard at the Disney Polynesian resort. It seems a Pack-n-Play is obtainable when requested, but I have not seen the Pack-n-Play here so I cannot comment on it; its size/utility-of-use; etc. The location-convenience is not enough to override the negative aspects of my current room, the cost per night of this room, and my experience in checking into this room; hence my rating of 2 out of 5 overall.

“So relaxing”

Just love this place, stayed twice and counting! Beds are comfortable, rooms are clean and staff is courteous. Very quiet, good sleeping, or were we just exhausted? The grounds are huge and you will have to do some walking. But love all the transportation options, makes it easy to bring cranky kids back to the room for a afternoon rest.

“Basic hotel in deluxe category”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Although the hotel is in the "deluxe" category, it does not really compare to other "deluxe hotels" outside of Disney. The room was a basic hotel room with 2 queen sized beds and a day bed. The size was adequate for the 2 of us, but it may be crowded for 4 or 5. The closet was very small with double rods that did not allow enough space for the clothes to hang properly. In fact we had to hang our coats in the closet with the safe and ironing board. The bathroom was a good size with 2 sinks and a tub/shower combination. There was no nightly turn down service nor robes and slippers which most deluxe hotels provide. The housekeeping staff was efficient and the room was always clean.

We have visited Disney World many times over the years and have stayed at the Polynesian Resort several times. This year we were disappointed in the overall management of the property. We did not feel that it was up to the standards of the past, in particular the manager of guest services. We elected the Disney dining plan and by the 2nd day realized that the plan was annoying and not convenient at all. We spoke to the manager of guest services and asked to be removed from the plan. The manager flatly refused and continued to state that he could not help us because it was a corporate rule. We noticed that several 'cast members' througout Disney World seemed to have the same attitude. It was very shocking to experience that behavior, especially since in the past Disney always had the best and most welcoming 'cast members'.

Room Tip: rooms in Tahiti and Rapa Nui are closest to the Transportation and Ticket Center and make it easy to...

“Loved staying here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

My family and I stayed here for a week last fall and had a fantastic time. The convenience of the monorail alone makes this resort worth the money we paid.

We arrived early in the day but having checked in online our room was ready. In fact, we didn't even need to stand in line there was a Cast Member waiting for us with our room keys and packet in her hands! Talk about great service!

We had a garden view room in the Tahiti building which was a bit further from the Great Ceremonial House but a very quick walk to the TTC for the Epcot monorail. This resort is not really that big compared to places like Coronado Springs and none of us mind walking at all.

I love The Polynesian and will most definitely stay there again.

“Great service, kids loved it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

The Polynesian is a great place to sit by the pool and relax while you watch your kids go down the big volcano slide! They all loved it! Captain Cooks modern touch screen order is awesome. I wish I had more advisory on more places to go.
