There are several choices when you just getting to Orlando or want to make the airport area your home base. In terms of location, the hotel is a mile or so from the airport (not walkable as it's a very busy one) and right off Semoran Blvd., which has a ton of every type of restaurant you could imagine, including several directly across the street from this hotel. I picked this hotel because of the room rate and reviews on Trip Advisor, however I probably wouldn't stay again.
The hotel does a lot of business from the pilots and FA's from the airport. In my case I had to wait just a bit to check in as they were understaffed with just one person at the desk. For a hotel of this size, right around 6pm, thought this needed improvement. The front desk staff was efficient and fast. The lobby of the hotel has a bar and restaurant, so if you were staying the night before a flight, you really don't have to leave if you don't want to. They also have a little shop to buy items you may have left or very expensive bottles of soda or water.
I appreciate the fact that Marriott's are smoke-free, as I have terrible allergies and at least I won't smell any from other rooms. The rooms itself leave a bit to be desired. I have stayed at other Renaissance properties in south FL which were incredibly nice, fine details, clean, smelled nice, etc. This to me felt too much like an airport hotel, really didn't make me feel like I was at a Renaissance. The room size was on the smaller end. The linens were clean, however this is where my frustration came in. I used one of the ancient phones in the room to call for a housekeeping item and it just rang and rang with no answer. I try the "At Your Service" button and get the same result. I think try the front desk and let me know I had to leave soon, but they could bring it up while I was gone. Well, get back 2 hours later, go through the whole thing again, and the item gets brought up. The hotel needs a) new phones, b) someone to answer them. It's very frustrating for guests to have buttons on the phone to connect to a live person to only have the calls go unanswered. As with the front desk, think they need more staff.
The bed itself was okay, TV had a decent amount of channels and closed captioning. The AC unit wasn't terrible and the clock worked fine. The bathroom however needed immediate work. There was a stain or something icky behind the toilet in the room that looked like it had been there a while. Totally not acceptable for a hotel of this class. The tiles in the bathroom did not look super clean. Was disappointed there overall.
Would recommend the hotel do something to make itself not such a generic airport hotel and really focus on details in the rooms and bathrooms. They need to add more staff to make it a more pleasant experience for guests.

Thank you for your candid remarks about our hotel. It seems that although many features of our property met your expectations there were some conditions you were unhappy with. The entire team at the Renaissance Orlando Airport Hotel is dedicated to providing excellent service and an impeccable guestroom product thus it is very disappointing to hear we failed to deliver our promise in some ways during your stay. Our management team has reviewed your comments to ensure we take appropriate measures to improve. To assit me in correcting the guestroom issues you have noted, is it possible you could contact me with your specific room number and dates of stay to allow us to know what room you had this bad experience with please? My direct line is (407)513-7200. I would greatly appreciate that and do hope we are able to to have you as a guest in the future if you travel to Orlando again.
