“If you appreciate disrespect this is the hotel for you...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Person I have encountered in a long time. The reservation was under my name and my flight was delayed – therefore my companion had to check into the room before me. I called ahead had his name placed on the reservation and was assured it would not be a problem. (I travel a good bit and its never a problem) Regardless when he attempted to check in the front desk person (Erik) informed him he was not on the reservation ( in actuality we later found out he was) Told him to wait over to the side while he talked with his friend on the phone. Then when spoken to about his attitude the front desk clerk aggressively instructed him to leave ”HIS” hotel and said he would remove him from the property.

The manager came out and actually looked at the reservation and allowed him to check in and did apologize and comped us the $10.00 parking... But, to me this behavior was EXTREMLY unacceptable. When I arrived the front desk person (Erik) was still there, I addressed the issue with him and he smirked at me when I inquired about the problems he had created. I will be filing a complaint.

The hotel itself is nice a standard Marriott - but the service... well it speaks for itself.

“Needs work and staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

There are several choices when you just getting to Orlando or want to make the airport area your home base. In terms of location, the hotel is a mile or so from the airport (not walkable as it's a very busy one) and right off Semoran Blvd., which has a ton of every type of restaurant you could imagine, including several directly across the street from this hotel. I picked this hotel because of the room rate and reviews on Trip Advisor, however I probably wouldn't stay again.

The hotel does a lot of business from the pilots and FA's from the airport. In my case I had to wait just a bit to check in as they were understaffed with just one person at the desk. For a hotel of this size, right around 6pm, thought this needed improvement. The front desk staff was efficient and fast. The lobby of the hotel has a bar and restaurant, so if you were staying the night before a flight, you really don't have to leave if you don't want to. They also have a little shop to buy items you may have left or very expensive bottles of soda or water.

I appreciate the fact that Marriott's are smoke-free, as I have terrible allergies and at least I won't smell any from other rooms. The rooms itself leave a bit to be desired. I have stayed at other Renaissance properties in south FL which were incredibly nice, fine details, clean, smelled nice, etc. This to me felt too much like an airport hotel, really didn't make me feel like I was at a Renaissance. The room size was on the smaller end. The linens were clean, however this is where my frustration came in. I used one of the ancient phones in the room to call for a housekeeping item and it just rang and rang with no answer. I try the "At Your Service" button and get the same result. I think try the front desk and let me know I had to leave soon, but they could bring it up while I was gone. Well, get back 2 hours later, go through the whole thing again, and the item gets brought up. The hotel needs a) new phones, b) someone to answer them. It's very frustrating for guests to have buttons on the phone to connect to a live person to only have the calls go unanswered. As with the front desk, think they need more staff.

The bed itself was okay, TV had a decent amount of channels and closed captioning. The AC unit wasn't terrible and the clock worked fine. The bathroom however needed immediate work. There was a stain or something icky behind the toilet in the room that looked like it had been there a while. Totally not acceptable for a hotel of this class. The tiles in the bathroom did not look super clean. Was disappointed there overall.

Would recommend the hotel do something to make itself not such a generic airport hotel and really focus on details in the rooms and bathrooms. They need to add more staff to make it a more pleasant experience for guests.

Thank you for your candid remarks about our hotel. It seems that although many features of our property met your expectations there were some conditions you were unhappy with. The entire team at the Renaissance Orlando Airport Hotel is dedicated to providing excellent service and an impeccable guestroom product thus it is very disappointing to hear we failed to deliver our promise in some ways during your stay. Our management team has reviewed your comments to ensure we take appropriate measures to improve. To assit me in correcting the guestroom issues you have noted, is it possible you could contact me with your specific room number and dates of stay to allow us to know what room you had this bad experience with please? My direct line is (407)513-7200. I would greatly appreciate that and do hope we are able to to have you as a guest in the future if you travel to Orlando again.

“Great Value for the Purpose”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed here in between our cruise and next day flight. We received a great rate, and believe I could have easily paid triple based on the quality of the hotel. The room was spacious and clean. However, my conditioner bottle had been "recycled". Though I hate throwing out once used products, I couldn't with a clear conscious use it. I could have easily phoned the front desk from the restroom phone, and considered running a bath while waiting for the conditioner, but the drain plug was broken. There was also no convenience robe (I didn't expect this, but it made my conditioner predicament more unresolvable.) Thus, the Average rating for cleanliness.
However, other than this minor issue, our King sized bedroom was spacious, clean, and quiet. More than enough room, plus a wonderful bar area with coffee and a mini fridge. The pool and fitness areas were also very nice. The airport shuttle was easy and convenient. I would definitely stay here again when faced with an airport layover or early morning flight.

“Conference in January”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Stayed here one night for a conference. Noticed the door to the room was in bad need of paint. The carpet in the corridor was noticeably worn. The tile floor in the room needed to be mopped. The amenities in the room were fine. The bed was comfortable; nice fresh linens. The parapet wall on the outside front needed painting. This did not give a good first impression of the hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. Parking was accessible & safe. The lobby & conference rooms were clean and well-lit. The food was good but not exceptional.Elevators were very fast & smooth.

Room Tip: On the backside, you can view the parking lot if you want to keep an eye on your car.
