“You get what you paid for”

Good thing - the price is very reasonable for its location. Right on International Drive, walkable to department/drug stores and restaurants, near Orlando Premium Outlets (10 min by any bus) and near Universal Studios (10 min by bus, then 20 min walk - no shuttle needed).

Coffe maker, free parking (good feature after Miami Beach), nice staff.

ASK FOR BREAKFAST TIME - it's included in the price, IT'S SERVED ONLY TILL 9AM!!!

“Decent but not ideal.”

My girlfriend and I arrived on a Saturday night. with cooler in hand - packed to the brim with food (mostly vegetarian meals for myself) - I noticed there was no refrigerator or microwave. realizing a fridge was listed under the amenities, I contacted the front desk who pleasantly informed me they'd have one sent to my room.

within 10 minutes, a maintenance man brought one and plugged it in. he noticed the freezer drawer wasn't staying shut all the way, tried to slam it in a few times, and walked out. there was a sheet of ice on the freezer drawer that was stained by what looked like an exploded soda can (brown, rusty color). note: no microwaves available here.

I was really excited for the continental breakfast which was absolutely horrendous. it was simply WHITE bread, orange and apple juice out of a machine, froot loops and corn flakes out of a candy dispenser (the crank kind) and terrible pastries that looked store-bought.

our room was on the first floor, so Saturday night in particular was very noisy. I didn't mind such, as I am a heavy sleeper, but I did have to buy my girlfriend ear plugs.

the room itself was decent. some aesthetic damage on the walls (with shoddy plastering to conceal whatever had occurred).

we brought our own bedsheets, pillows, blankets, and towels as I am just fickle about hotel cleanliness.

lastly, we accidentally locked ourselves out of our room. I found it strangely easy to remedy this situation. the front desk simply gave us 2 new room keys while deactivating the old one. didn't check my ID or anything. I hypothesized how easy it would be to just say you locked yourself out of your room, get new key cards, and basically rob any room completely blind.

overall, I feel like I got what I paid for. I wouldn't recommend staying here for more than 2-3 nights - shell out more money if you are planning for a longer trip.

I forgot to review this hotel in september 2011. My room was not that bad, this is what you get for the price, excellent location. I left the keys of all my bags and nothing was stolen. No wi-fi for two days.

“Check your Credit Card Statement!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Check your Credit Card Statement!!! We stayed here in November and thought we were getting a great deal. I even left them a positive review. After going over my credit card statment, I discovered that they charged us for 6 nights instead of 4 nights. I called to resolve the issue and they just gave me the run-around. The first time I called Nov. the lady was NO help and rude. When I called in Dec. they asked that I fax my credit card statement so they could see that I was telling the truth. I did fax it and Never heard back from them. I called them again and they again requested that I fax my credit card statement again. I told them I already did but they didn't care. .... I don't have time to play games with Howard Johnson ... I reported this to my credit card company to get my money back.

“Disgusting! DO NOT STAY HERE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We recently stayed here for two nights before heading on a cruise and I have to say it was absolutely disgusting...we didnt want to spend a ton of money on a hotel since we were just passing through but there is a reason it is only $35 a night....its a classic case of get what you pay for and it is right on a great strip of restaurants and stuff to do...so I cant complain in that aspect...I'm not expecting a crazy beautiful room for $35 a night, but it should at least be clean. The room was horrible. It had a horrible musty smell, the beds were crazy uncomfortable, the sheets had stains, the pillows were lumpy and to top it off our water went out for a few hours. The staff at the front desk was extremely rude and not helpful in the slightest bit. Spend the extra couple bucks and stay somewhere else, we wish we did...
