I have stayed at Embassy Suites and always consider them kind of a splurge...I am a SPG member and love the Starwood brand, but have always had wonderful experiences at Embassy Suites. This one, I really tried to like. First "hmm" that doesn't sound like a big deal, was NO towel racks, either in the shower area or out in the sink area.....what is up with that? Oh well, no problem, really...then the stopped up toilet that took two trips from maintenance to fix. Next, no sheets or blankets on the fold-out couch (two women sharing a room for the PGA Show, had reserved two queen beds and got one king). Called down to front desk and someone from housekeeping arrives, hands me a bundle of blankets and sheets and says, "Is there anything else I can get for you?" I only had a "hmm" moment over this one due to the little laminated paper that comes out of the fold-out bed when you open it saying how much they value your comfort, and if this bed isn't made up to your satisfaction, please let us know (or words to that effect). The bed wasn't made up at all...and then I had to make it!
It was horribly uncomfortable...just as a side note. Yikes.
We were there for three days...the breakfasts were wonderful and FAST...faster than any ES I have ever seen. This saved a star in my review, to tell the truth. The evening cocktail reception was great as well...the fairly expensive rate was also saved for me by the breakfast and cocktails.
The rooms are smaller than ES I have visited...it was dark, kind of worn down...it just wasn't the quality that I remember from other visits to this brand.
The front desk staff was excellent and always helpful...but overall, this was a very average place, for above average prices. I get the impression they get so much convention business, they really don't have to be anything out of the ordinary.
