“It's cheap for a reason... Too scary & filthy to warrant a return visit.”
The old adage "you get what you pay for" definitely applies here. I travelled with my husband and 2 friends on a one-week package. We didn't think it would be too bad as the vacation package rated the hotel at 3 stars. I would hate to see what the 1 star hotels were like.
The hotel sign wasn't well lit, and was covered by some kind of cloth, from which you could tell it used to be a Best Western. There's certainly a good reason why Best Western dropped its name from this facility. The parking area was poorly lit, as was the walkway from the reception area to the room. The reception/front desk area was okay, but we noticed an unpleasant odor while we were checking in (turns out it was coming from their in house cafe).
We were not given adjacent rooms, as the king beds were on one side of the facility and the doubles were in another. No big deal. However, the room we received was next to the alleyway where the laundry machines were. On top of that, the lock on the door was damaged, and the safe had very prominent crow bar marks on it. Throughout the evening you could hear people talking in the alleyway and fidgeting with the machines. The walls were paper thin, leaving us with a sleepless first night, as there was a group of college guys next door cursing and laughing into the morning hours. At 3am, we finally asked the front desk to move us to another room.
In the morning, we noticed that two rooms down there was a broken window. We don't know what happened, but we weren't surprised. We met up with our friends who told us about how filthy the room was. The bathtub and toiled had mold stains, and there was a giant dust bunny under one of the benches. It was so large and disgusting, my friend thought it was a dead rat. Both of our rooms did not appear to have been vacuumed in ages.
The bottom line is that we felt the hotel was unsafe and filthy. It was unpleasant to even just shower and sleep in this facility. In retrospect, we should have spent the extra hundred bucks for a brand name hotel; or waited until Disney had a promotional sale.
