Please avoid staying here at all costs! We used Roomsaver coupons and had chosen this area, as we wanted to be within walking distance of Universal Studios. It was one of the few that offered "continental breakfast" as some other cheap ones charged extra for coffee or you had to pay for breakfast. So, we thought we were being smart when the price included a microwave and refridgerator. When we asked to see a room, the young European girl at the Front Desk showed us a handicapped room, which appeared to be in good location. When we agreed to stay, we asked for a similar quiet room, but not handicapped. She gave us the keys to a room in the far back of the hotel, which was very run down. Once we opened the door, there was no bed inside the room! Back at the front desk, she was embarassed, but offered no apologies and put us into another room. Words cannot describe how unhygienic the carpets, windows, bathroom were. We went out to the pool to swim and read, but had second thoughts after seeing one of the underwater pool lights floating, with the wires connected. The outside tables were filthy dirty and looked as if it was abandoned. From the pool area, we noticed many rooms appeared to be in disarray inside. Either they must have long-term rentals for staff working nearby or rooms that have not been yet cleaned by staff. All still looked untouched by the time we checked out. The lampshades had bulb burns on them, our phone did not work, the "breakfast" was just awful. The managers, a couple, hovered around the breakfast bar every morning, rearranging the stale cellophaned muffins, sugary cereals and the weakest coffee I ever tasted. It was almost insulting, the lack of hygiene and quality. If they only spent a fraction of that energy on repairing their Hotel, it might have some business. The first morning, another guest was complaining about the offerings and commented that we were the first guests she had seen in their 4 day stay. She said her husband was there for a conference and stayed because of the "onsite restaurant". She was informed that there was no staff to cook any food and only Subway was in walking distance. We never encountered other guest except another couple with their son, who waited with us for the free bus to Universal Studios. It was very creepy, the minimal staff sit there, bored, waiting for guests that never seem to arrive. I did not think the area was safe to walk around by myself and luckily we had a car to be able to drive to eat simply. Seriously, this place should be condemned and shame shame on the on-site managers!
Room Tip: Stay away and go elsewhere...there are so many other places to choose!
