We stayed at the Orlando Hotel and Suites this past weekend for a trip to Universal Studios. The location couldn't have been better, on the same road as Universal about 5 minutes away. Having annual passes to both Disney and Universal and because we only live an hour away, we have stayed in many, many hotels over the years. We usually always go for the ones with 1 or more bedrooms and a full kitchen because we have 3 children. This time we stayed in the queen 1 bedroom suite. We were happy with both the size and cleanliness of the rooms. There are two vanities with sinks (one in the shower, toilet area and one just outside of it). This was very convenient. The two queen beds were comfortable and clean. The pull out sofa didn't have much padding, but it worked for our teenager. We didn't make a meal, but could have if needed. There were several pots and pans and enough service for 4. I was happy that there was an icemaker and an ice bucket with machines in the hallway so you had that option. The onsite amenities are not the greatest, but not bad. There is a workout room (very small) and a small pool with a hot tub (the hot tub was not working and was roped off, this was a little disappointing). The lobby was nicely decorated and clean. The staff was very nice and helpful. The highlight of this hotel is the free full breakfast. You get two free adult coupons and kids 12 and under eat free. My husband doesn't usually eat breakfast, so we didn't have to pay anything. This saved us around $50 or more. I was very happy with the selection as well. There was toast, bagels, cereal, fresh fruit, eggs, homefries, pancakes, Bacon or sausage, a fresh waffle maker, oatmeal, coffee, milk, orange juice and all the fixings for everything. We tried most of it and it was good. The only thing I didn't try was the eggs because they looked watery. It was a buffet, so you could also go back and get more. Did I mention the price of this place yet? Only $54 a night!! The place wasn't perfect, there were a few minor flaws, but they were all minor and easy to overlook. To me, the most important thing to look for in a hotel is cleanliness and the second is value. Orlando Hotel and Suites hit the mark on both! We will be back.
