“Would stay here again!”

Just returned from my first stay at Pop Century and I was pleasantly surprised by the resort. From staying in the All Stars I expected their rooms to be bright and in your face (and honestly a little obnoxious) but the rooms, while a little small, were certainly toned down in the decoration department but looked wonderful!

Pop is a large resort and I was placed in the 80's building which was a bit of a walk from the main building but I had a rental car and usually drove over on my way out of the resort in the morning for breakfast. Of course the food court was packed which resulted in long lines and lack of napkins but there was plenty of seating and food options.

I was traveling with a friend and we each put a credit card down for charging but when we checked out I noticed all the charges were placed on my card. This was a little frustrating because we had to stand in a long line to get it all sorted out but the cast members were offering free brownies to the guests waiting in line which was a nice touch.

The resort is significantly closer to Hollywood Studios than I realized and honestly, I would suggest this resort over Caribbean Beach (they're right next door). The rooms were always clean, the cast members were always friendly and it was a great value!

“It's a Value Hotel so you get what you pay for!”

During two visits to Disney World in the past year, we stayed at Pop Century. We enjoyed Pop Century because: you can't beat the price for a DIsney property, the rooms and grounds are clean, and the bus transportation to the parks is reliable,. However, the reason I am rating it "average" is because: the rooms are small, the food in the food court is average at best, the dining area is quite noisy and crowded, the pools are opened all hours so if your room is in close proximity to the pools, you will get little sleep, and the grounds and buildings are not attractive at all. That all being said. I think the next time we vacation at Disney World, I would rather pay a little more money and stay at Port Orleans Riverside, a "moderate" resort, where the food is much better, the overall atmosphere is wonderful because the grounds and buildings are much nicer, there are beautiful paths for walking, there are small, quieter pools throughout the resort and a relaxing water shuttle to Downtown Disney.

Room Tip: There is only one bus stop and dining area so request a room in closer proximity to this area and al...

“Adults can enjoy Pop Century”

My husband and I stayed here in February 2012. We requested a standard view, which means you're not paying to stay near the main building. We requested a higher floor, away from the elevators. We stayed in the 50's section, and were given a third floor room, on the end. What a great location! When we exited the room, we had a view of hourglass lake, so pretty. Although they are building the Art of Animation resort across the lake, I never heard any noise from it, and only heard occasional water running from other rooms. The staff was pleasant and plentiful. The restaurant is cafeteria style, and does get crowded during busy times. Lots of activities going on, if you are so inclined. Can't beat it for the price and convenience of staying on Disney property.

Room Tip: Higher floors and away from main building, if you don't have young children and don't mind w...

“If you want Disney Magic Hours, this is the best place to stay for the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Disney's main enticement to staying in one of their properties, where you pay a premium over surrounding hotels, is their extended Magic Hours. This is where guests can get in to a park and hour early, or stay an extra hour after normal closing. Each park has at least one of these a week. If that is something you desire (and it was important to us since we see so much in the first hour, avoiding crowds) then I recommend Pop Century. As I like to say, "All rooms look the same once the lights are out". If you want a relatively inexpensive place to stay that is safe, clean, and close, then pick Pop Century. We had stayed prior at All-Star Movies and liked that, but we enjoyed Pop Century even more.

We stayed in the 1950's building. On the side away from the pool. Our kids swim, but we didn't want to hear the pool area noise in the evening. We enjoyed quiet on the opposite side.

We liked having a noisy breakfast in the caefteria and our girls did the Twist at 8:00am with the workers there.

We rented a car and found it very convenient, and faster, than taking the buses, to each park, including the waterparks.

Note that if you get a room on the lakeside, you may hear workers from across the lake who are working on the buildings during the day.

The supersized items like the Bi Wheel were neat to see. Great for picture taking.

Rooms themselves are small. Two double beds, two chairs and a small table.

I will say that in both our All-Star Movie stay, and the Pop Century, that I found all the Disney workers (cast members) very pleasant, from the front desk personnel, to the house-keeping, to the lifeguards. Disney takes care of us each time.

Room Tip: The side opposite the pool is quieter. We like the 3rd or 4th floor to cut down on foot traffic outs...

“Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

My husband and I took a quick, fun trip to Disney in late January. We had an amazing time, and this hotel was a great value. We spent almost no time at the resort- but it was clean, quiet, and super comfortable after spending long days at the park. It was super warm while we were there and a lot of families were enjoying the many large swimming pools. Having only one bus stop made walks to the shuttle a bit long, but it was really nice that the bus to the parks was not shared with any other resorts. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the great value!
