“Perfect getaway for large families!”

Our family of 5 (kids 8,7 & 4) stayed in a 2 bedroom villa, directly across from the main entrance "hospitality house". Which we requested, based on other reviews, and were granted. We will NEVER stay in anything but a villa, maybe a 3 bedroom next time. Ours had just been renovated, it was well stocked with dishwasher soap, laundry soap (what is better than a full sized laundry room??) and lots of towels.
I cannot comment on the dining, since we did not eat out. We ordered from the Garden Grocer online and had our food delivered and waiting in a cooler when we arrived. This allowed us to eat a big breakfast before heading to the parks, and lunches in after a morning at the pool. Our experience with Garden Grocer was perfect, I would definitely recommend to anyone.
The main pool was clean, large, had great activities for the kids. The water slide was a hit as well.
Overall, OKW was perfect for our family and we will for sure again. The resort is LARGE, if you are interested in swimming with kids and taking advantage of the tennis courts, arcade, sandy playground, I highly suggested requesting your room close to the main entrance.

Room Tip: Rooms close to the main entrance, first floor for easy access with kids.

“The best value if you're looking for villas”

Old Key West was the first resort under DVC, Disney's time sharing program. It's a spread out resort. Depending on where's your room you might have to walk at least 15-20 min to get to the main lobby. Loved the rooms although the decoration was a little bit dated. Nevertheless, they were renovating rooms at that time. Of all the villas in DW this where the best value. The studios in this resort are the biggest of all. The dining options are limited but you are a bus ride away from Downtown Disney. The studio was equipped with a fridge, microwave, coffeemaker and a sink. Good enough to eat a simple breakast before heading to the parks. There're various pools throughout the resort but the main one is the best for children. The other pools are more like quiet pools for adults.

“Disney Vacation Resort - good value”

Compared to other Disney resorts, this place is a little dated. BUT compared to the average vacation resort in Florida, this place is very good. What makes the accomodations dated is that for a 1 BR suite, there's only one bathroom and you have to access it from the bedroom only. It would've been nice to have a separate bathroom considering the room sleeps 5. Also, there's a huge whirlpool tub that is sort of unnecessary, but nice for the kids to bathe in. We visited in December so we didn't check out the pool as we spend most of our time at the parks. The usual fantastic amenities: Disney Magical Express, Disney bus service, etc. The property is rather large, so you might want to ask to stay in the area near the main bus pick up...otherwise a trip around the resort could take a half hour to get to your bus stop. Also, there are no elevators, so you might want to request a lower level unit so you don't have to lug your baggage (or strollers containing sleeping kids) up the stairs.

“Beautiful Resort! Would stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Stayed for 3 nights in January with my sister for a weekend getaway and booked a studio suite which was a great choice because it had a fridge, sink, microwave and also a small patio which was a pleasant surprise. We were in building 21 which was a nice location because it was close to a private pool and bus stop and wasn't too far from the main check-in building, dining options and main pool.

Unfortunately we had a connecting room and could hear the family next to us at some of the most inopportune times (like 7 am when we were still asleep). Being so close to the bus stop we could hear the buses running constantly as they used the turn around right by our building to head out of the resort so if you're a light sleeper, bring some ear plugs just in case. Housekeeping also banged on our door at 830 am the day we were checking out which was most unpleasant as we were still sleeping. Lastly, and this is simply personal preference, our room was handicapped accessible and there was absolutely no where in the shower to put shampoo, conditioner etc.

Given those few small gripes, the resort is gorgeous and I would definitely stay there again...just hopefully in another building!

“Beautiful Property, Wonderful Staff some minor issues....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I stayed in this property a few months ago. We travelled as part of a group and booked a 2 Bedroom Villa and a Studio. All accomodations were spotlessly clean and very roomy. It was wonderful having the large kitchen area and sitting room to relax in.
The pool is lovely and the life-guards go through a Pirates Of The Caribbean ritual prior to opening the water slide, this is lots of fun for kids.
The property gardens are well maintained. This is a huge resort so if you have walking difficulties it would be wise to request a building near the front of the resort.
The shop is well stocked with gifts and snacks where you can use your credits from the Disney Dining Plan. We ate at Olivia's 3 times, the first time was amazing the other twice not so great but still ok. We were on the Dining Plan but if we weren't we would have found it rather expensive.
Only issues I had were the quick-service food place "Goods To Go" doesn't have much choice compared to other resorts with quick service counters. Although the Old Key West Resort has been designed for travellers who enjoy self-catering I still feel there should be more on offer especially for those on the Dining Plan.
The other issue was I noticed a large amount of droppings in the grounds of the hotel, unfortunatley this included right outside the front door of our Villa and on our balcony. It wasn't cleaned within 2 days and I had to call Reception to request that it be cleaned as I didn't want us to trample on it and drag it throught the Villa on our feet. It did get cleaned but the next day there was more, possibly from water rats as I have seen other reviewers mention this.
