Stayed there last week. I will start with the
GOOD : Other than staying on the Universal parks property, the location couldn't be better. I found customer service to be very good, everyone we encountered was very polite and helpful, and my children obtained cookies daily in the amount requested ;). The pool was large and clean with plenty of seats and fresh towels. The room was also clean and beds/pillows were comfortable. Even though we were pretty near the ice machine, the noise level was never exessive. Places to eat and Walgreeens are within walking distance, The Ale House was very good in quality, price and service. Lots of choices for kids also, and we ate there more than once. Drinks there were also good and reasonably priced, i highly recommend this place. The taxi system at the hotel and the park was very organized and never a wait. The cab is $5 each way(plus tip), not unreasonable considering how tired you will be. Plus the hotel is in walking distance, but not an easy walk . which leads me to the
BAD: (at least for us)
Lets start with the walk. It is about 10 min. walk as everyone says, but if you have children, this is not a relaxing stroll and includes a number of rather dangerous and busy crossings. Not to mention lizards. We did walk back couple of times but most of the time were way too tired. So the $5 cabs came in very handy. However, the ones we took back to the hotel were often visibly annoyed to drive us, since they possibly missed out on more expensive customer, and some even pointed out that it was a "walking distance". All in all, not pleasant experience. TGIFridays was sticky and gross. We didn't learn our lesson with dinner on our arrival, so on our last day we decided to have their breakfast buffet. Not worth it. They do not include coffee or orange juice, and that's about $3 added to the final price, per person. And even if it is an "all you can eat" you will not want to, trust me. In the end we paid almost $10 a person, and all I had is a coffee (which was never refilled) and a bagel. We had way better breakfast at Starbucks located in the front lobby. This was great in the mornings if you absolutely need your coffee, and I do. They sell bagels and other things as well, but for some reason there was no butter...for 4 days (!!!). I also do not recommend pizza or wilted salad at the hotel's food court either. But none of these things were major enough to really affect our vacation. We had a great time and I would certainly stay there again and recommend this hotel to others!

Thank you for sharing your experience at the Doubletree by Hilton at the Entrance to Universal Orlando. I’m happy to hear that our Starbucks made your stay more enjoyable, along with the convenience of the Ale House and Walgreens which are located within walking distance from the hotel. We are very sorry that the TGI Friday’s did meet your expectations. Thank you again for your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back.
