I've stayed at this hotel numerous times. My most recent trip was Jan. 2012, for a conference. It's the host hotel, so I stay there because of it's convenience -- and that it is, convenient. I find the service overall a bit "slow" and generally not attentive. While the hotel might have been close to full, and perhaps that's common, I've stayed at larger hotels which are full and they are more responsive and attentive. The front desk seems overwhelmed and room issues are slow to get addressed. A burn-out light bulb took three phone calls and over 24 hours to fix. Water was not left in the room each day (which I paid for) and I had to call each time to get it. That too took a lot of time to be delivered. I rated the service as average, but I was being generous.
The one area where the service was exceptional -- was the maid service. The two women who cleaned my room daily were nothing short of fantastic. They took pride in their work, were cooperative and helped in every way they could. The least they deserve is special mention and the highest of all compliments.
Hawk's Landing is a nice, hotel-based steakhouse. High Velocity is sub-par pub-grub. The food is not that good and very expensive. The morning breakfast buffet was good. The valet parking is very expensive -- the most expensive in the area. The self-parking charge is also very expensive and is imposed every time you enter/leave. The internet connection and/or telephone packages, etc., are also very expensive compared to other hotels in the area. This is where you feel like you are being nickel-and-dimed. My $220 (approximately) room came in over $300 after you add in parking, internet, phone, other fees (I believe there was one called a "resort fee"), etc.
I don't see a lot of value here. I've stayed in other hotels in the area and feel there are much better values for your money. For me, it's strictly a convenience stay and I pay dearly for it.
Room Tip: Choose a room in the "main" building and "tower" or else you will be doing a ton...
