“Big and impersonal...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Well, when I got to my room, there was all kinds of banging going on. I called and asked for a room away from construction. They never called back. I have also been awakened in the middle of the night by construction/vacuuming, etc.

The hotel kinda smells like chemicals. It's kinda pretty on the outside. The pools look big and nice. The beds are nice.

I'm not sayin it's bad. Just average.

Stayed January 2012

Room Tip: Looking over the pool

“Lots of price gouging”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Big and sprawling. The centre is close to Disney World, but pretty isolated from everything else - you certainly can't walk anywhere. As a result, the Marriott takes the opportunity to gouge you, price-wise, on everything they can. Wireless internet is $15/day. A take-away sandwich is $10. And so on.

It's convenient to stay here if you have a conference, but on its own, it's way over-priced in terms of value.

Room Tip: The west tower is closer to the pool. The east tower is closer to the conference center.

“Excellent over-all!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Excellent location!
Excellent real-state and grounds.
It is a really a 4*+ hotel
Amazing swimming pool and slide for the kids.
Plenty of jacuzzi;s around.
Very good restaurant and at a reasonable value. But not for the breakfast, really expensive.
Unless you buy it downstairs at the "food-court"
Ask for a map, it is huge facility with lots of run-arounds.
Ample parking, but is not free.
Excellent staff and attention to detail.
A place to relax and enjoy.

Room Tip: Get a break-fast included rate if at all possible.

“Exceptional Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

My husband and I just returned from the Young Life Celebration hosted by the Marriott Orlando World Center. From our initial greeting to our departure we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. The meals we enjoyed at the hotel were served by a huge force of hard-working and serving employees. As they say, "no dust gathered on the feet" of the Marriott's employees. Even our housekeeper tidied my toiletries on a morning I rushed out the door. She even left a kind note. We have highest regard for the service we received and the servers we met on property. Of course, the facilities, amenities and food we enjoyed were first-rate, but what struck us as truly exceptional were the Marriott employees who tended so well to us and our group. Thank you sincerely. Special shout out to Walter and Thai.

“"OK" to fair, convenient for on-site conference, expensive, etc.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I've stayed at this hotel numerous times. My most recent trip was Jan. 2012, for a conference. It's the host hotel, so I stay there because of it's convenience -- and that it is, convenient. I find the service overall a bit "slow" and generally not attentive. While the hotel might have been close to full, and perhaps that's common, I've stayed at larger hotels which are full and they are more responsive and attentive. The front desk seems overwhelmed and room issues are slow to get addressed. A burn-out light bulb took three phone calls and over 24 hours to fix. Water was not left in the room each day (which I paid for) and I had to call each time to get it. That too took a lot of time to be delivered. I rated the service as average, but I was being generous.

The one area where the service was exceptional -- was the maid service. The two women who cleaned my room daily were nothing short of fantastic. They took pride in their work, were cooperative and helped in every way they could. The least they deserve is special mention and the highest of all compliments.

Hawk's Landing is a nice, hotel-based steakhouse. High Velocity is sub-par pub-grub. The food is not that good and very expensive. The morning breakfast buffet was good. The valet parking is very expensive -- the most expensive in the area. The self-parking charge is also very expensive and is imposed every time you enter/leave. The internet connection and/or telephone packages, etc., are also very expensive compared to other hotels in the area. This is where you feel like you are being nickel-and-dimed. My $220 (approximately) room came in over $300 after you add in parking, internet, phone, other fees (I believe there was one called a "resort fee"), etc.

I don't see a lot of value here. I've stayed in other hotels in the area and feel there are much better values for your money. For me, it's strictly a convenience stay and I pay dearly for it.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the "main" building and "tower" or else you will be doing a ton...
