Stayed here as part of a stopover on the way further south. The check-in was very smooth and the clerk was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the room we were given had a problem with the lights and they immediately switched our room to one next door. The smoke detector in that room was chirping. We thought this wasn't going to be a good stay. Maintenance was right on the problems and was fixing the original room (circuit breaker had flipped) before we had even discovered the problem in our new room. He came over and took care of the smoke detector (needed a new backup battery). Everything was fine after that. It was unusually cold during our stay, but there is a very nice pool and a miniature golf course on the property. They also have a gym (which we didn't use). All these are unusual for a HJ. Breakfast was the standard fare - cold items with a waffle maker. The breakfast area is in a separate building from the rooms. The hotel uses that area as a restaurant at night. We went to get Pizza instead (at a place I would highly recommend - reviewed separately)
It's near the highway so you do get some road noise. Overall - the place was clean and great for the price. I used a coupon from the hotel magazine which got me a slightly better rate than I could get on-line.

This is a great place to stay for a reasonable price. The room was very nice, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom fixtures were like new. The breakfast area was large with plenty of seating. Renee kept the area clean and well-stocked. She greeted everyone as they came in and made sure that they found what they wanted. We especially loved the orange and blue paint scheme (Go Gators!)

Beds were not that comfortable but price was good. It was Christmas night so restaurant was closed.

Wow. I knew this place was different the moment I checked in. It was 11:30 at night and the check-in clerk was extolling the virtues of their waffles. I told him to stop making me hungry and he offered to make a batch for me within half an hour--and he was serious! The room had been repainted in the past year and was just fine. At breakfast the next morning, the breakfast lady, Renee Reid was hustling about serving people at a speed and attentiveness that was remarkable. The tips jar was overflowing with dollar bills for her, something I'd never seen at a complimentary hotel breakfast. Pool was great. I removed the rope so I could swim laps. When I went to shower, I couldn't figure out how to switch the water from the tub to the shower head. Turns out this room is the only one they have with a non standard "pull down on the bottom of the spigot" to take a shower. By now I was so intrigued by their customer service, I decided to test it and time it. I called the front desk and Kristy called me back in 2 minutes with the answer. I still couldn't figure it out and called back to ask them to send someone over. Exactly 2 minutes later, Mark Bass was knocking on my door and showed me how it worked. In the future, I would go out of my way to stay here--that's how good the service is. BTW, I've stayed at hundreds of hotels and this is the first time I've ever taken the time to write an online hotel review. That's how impressed I was.
