My family was returning home from the Florida Keys and just needed a room to sleep in before returning home the next day. My husband booked this Days Inn on the internet for ourselves and another family we were vacationing with. We booked 2 rooms and were told there was a free breakfast at the full service restaurant next door. When we checked in about 9:00 pm on a Saturday night we were told that the restaurant was closed on Sundays so no breakfast on the morning we were there. There were severe storms that evening and when we tried to walk to our room via the outdoor corridor, there were 2 drunk homeless men sitting out the storm blocking the vending machines and stairs. They had a large dog with them who lunged and snapped at my 5 year old son! When my husband asked them to move, they yelled obscenities at him. Obviously they had been there a while and any type of security the hotel would have had would have discovered these guys and made them leave. When we got to our room we called the front desk and told them to have these guys removed or we would be calling the police. The men did leave. The room was dirty and appears to not have been updated since the 70's. We were so embarrassed that we had picked that hotel and that our friends were coming later. We would have immediately cancelled and gone elsewhere had it not been for fear of not finding other rooms and our friends arriving at midnight needing to sleep and not having a room. I wouldn't stay at this motel again in a million years and it has also made me swear off the whole Days Inn chain. We stayed at a Motel 6 on the way down to the Keys and it was much nicer and half the price!
