We stayed at this dumpy hotel last Friday, the beginning of Spring Break. Upon our arrival, there was a wait since all the hotels were sold out. We were charged $150 to stay in an outdated hotel room. The door had paint that was chipping off. There were old cabinets above the sink. A hot plate was mounted on the counter next to the sink. There were feces/blood stains on the wall. The floor tiles were chipped and broken. The air conditioner/heater was missing its front cover. As a result of these contiditions, my husband and I did not sleep a wink. We would have slept better in our car at a rest area compared to what we experienced at this crappy hotel.

desk clerk rude after I asked about the room cleanliness, wifi, etc. She said people expect everything and don't want to pay anything. Felt like leaving but thought I'd take a chance on staying, room adequate for the money, sort of dumpy on outside, rough around the edges. would not stay again due to attitude of desk clerk after her lecturing me.

We upgraded to Honeymoon suite. The cost was very reasonable (I have paid more for a standard room in Orlando.) The room was beautiful, and so was the Lobby. I looked in the window of some of the other rooms and they had big screen TV and fireplaces. I am not sure if they were standard or upgraded rooms as well. The pool is surrounded by a lovely greek rose garden which is very relaxing.

We were on a trip from Texas to Key Largo during spring break and needed a place to spend the night. Started working our way down the list of hotels on Tripadvisor, finding "no vacancies" with every call. Found the Golden Palms and figured it beat sleeping in the Walmart parking lot. Which it did...barely. The room was dingy and looked like a gang of five year-olds had painted it. Poor lighting made it difficult to assess the rooms cleanliness, but there was black mold on the back of the shower curtain. Linens seemed clean and the staff were friendly but the property needs to be bulldozed and rebuilt. For the advertised price, I might have felt only slightly cheated. But, due to laws of supply and demand, they'd tripled their rates. So if I got one good thing out the experience, it was a lesson in planning ahead.
