“We Loved it and we'll be back”

We (my family and friends) Have been coming to Ram Sea for 15 + years. The location is top notch. Condo's come complete with all your kitchen needs all of the condo's come w/balconies. We have never stayed in a bad Condo here.. If you love to grill they have grills. Ram Sea gives you a daily news paper at your door. They have a nice Hot Tub and Swimming pool. This Condo is near many great restaurants - If you want to have a drink at many Pubs that the area offers you can jump on the trolley and get droped back off next to the condo - The only other thing I can say is ENJOY

“Old and tired condo unit; wouldn't come back to this unit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

We stayed in unit #402 in Ram Sea (can't remember if it was I or II; it was the building on the right if you are looking at the condo buildings from the street). The view from the unit was excellent, right on the beach towards the sea. The beach was great, good for kids just steps away from the condo. I would say that the beach isn't as nice as Siesta Keys but still good for shelling and swimming. My kids swam in the pool but it seemed crowded most of the time. Didn't make use of the hot tub, can't comment.

Now the unit. It is an old and tired unit badly in need of a facelift. The unit has one bedroom with 2 double beds. There were 4 of us and it worked out for us even if all of us were sleeping in the one bedroom.

There is water damage in the washroom along the baseboard, the cabinets - like there was constant flooding on the floors or something and it was never fixed. The bathtub is unpleasant, black mold along the grout, took us a while to work out the shower.

The kitchen lacked several useful utensils and it was a collection of mismatched items from the 1970's and onwards.

The furniture and decor was old and it conveys the message the owners aren't interested in updating or replacing anything. We had friends staying in another unit just doors away and that unit had nicer appliances, kitchenware, furniture, etc. Lots of tacky knick-knacks around the unit. I say less is more.

Having said all that, was the unit clean? Yes. Was it comfortable for us? Yes. Was it luxurious? No. Was it appealing? Not really. Would I recommend it for another family? No, check out the other units before you settle on this one. For the same amount of money I would rent another unit that's a little better equipped and better maintained. We rented through JC Resorts.

We had an issue with the patio door and someone from maintenance came up pretty quickly to fix it. Front desk downstairs were pleasant enough but didn't really seem to know the area. When we asked for directions to Pier 60, they were trying to send us to St. Pete's Beach when in fact we were trying to get to Clearwater.

There's no covered parking so cars get hot. Covered parking is for owners only.

We went grocery shopping at the nearest Publix. The 2 nearest Walmarts don't have fresh food. We checked out Pier 60 at Clearwater during the day. Not much going on then. I heard it gets better at night. Also visited MOSI, interesting enough but a lot of the exhibitions and activities were broken or missing parts. Plan to spend almost the whole day there. Ate at Sweet Sage Cafe; it was tasty, small portions but $$. Four of us had breakfast and it came out to about $50. Won't be going back.

Overall, North Redington Beach is a nice place for a beach vacation but unit #402 isn't the way to go.

Update on 402... This beachfront vacation rental was completely updated in December of 2011. All new! The owner has done a fabulous job. New pictures will be posted in early June. Thanks for taking the time to add your review. It often helps to have vacation rental owners see things from a guest's perspective.

“Room 212 - Worst Room at the Ram Sea”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2011

I stayed at the Ram Sea in July 2011 in room 212. This by far had to be the most outdated, run down room in the entire building. The beds were hard as cement. The bedroom with two double beds had a broken clock on the wall, a remote that didn't work. The bathroom in that bedroom had bugs, flickering lights, mildew in the shower, as well as a leaking faucet. The main bathroom had a broken stopper which we had to reach our hands into the toilet tank and replace after every flush. The room was cleaned only once over 8 days. The elevator has to be the slowest I've ever waited for or been on.

Mind you, we asked maintenance to fix all the above problems which were never resolved. We've stayed at the Ram Sea at least 10 times across the past 20 years and never has it been so bad. Perhaps the rest of the building is in better condition, but a room like this seriously has me reconsidering where I stay on my next vacation.

“Room 312- Needs cleaning and updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Ram Sea II room 312 at the end of May. The condo is outdated and needs new furniture. The bed in the master bed room is a FULL SIZE bed and not a queen as it states on the JC resort website. It was too small for the two of us to sleep in this bed. The room was not clean and the comforter was stained. I had to wash the comforter myself and clean wipe down the tables. The bedding was very old and the bed skirt was falling apart. I took someone's advice from the trip advisor reviews and brought my own bed sheets along with pillow cases. The dining room chairs were filthy and had left over popcorn and stains in the corners of the chairs. You will be charged a cleaning fee when you book these condos but they obviously dont do a very good job cleaning them. Be prepared to clean and wipe everything down before you can relax on your vacation. The view from the balcanoy is beautiful and the condo is right on the gulf. I would never stay in this unit again and would not recommed it to anyone else. They need to do some major cleaning before I consider it again. The people at the front desk are not very friendly and didnt say two words to us when we truned the keys in. We were expecting someone to at least ask about our stay and how we enjoyed their condos but they were too busy to be nice to their guests. I'm sad to say that this was one of the of the worst experiences I have ever had.

Room Tip: Bring your own sheets and pick an updated condo.

We are so sorry you found your stay in 312 to be less than desired. 312 has had some wonderful reviews on these pages and we are terribly apologetic that we did not meet your standard during your stay. We will certainly convey this information to the unit owner to let them know. We always appreciate our guests taking the time to let us know how they feel. It is helpful in both correcting existing problems and in anticipating future issues. I apologize that our staff was busy when you left. It is never our intention to have any of our guests be uncomfortable or to feel they have not gotten good service. We are on it... and will most assuredly work harder in future! Thank you once again for your time.

“Rude Staff and very old building with no frills”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2011

This condo is your run of the bin beachfront condo that is outdated and over used. The only benefit to this place is it is directly beach front. We stayed at this location for a family wedding that was being held otherwise I am not sure we would have chose this place.

The condo was nothing fabulous. Upon checking in our shower wasn't working, the ac was broken, and some of the cabinets in the bathroom were broken, the elevators barely worked and if it weren't for my 85 year old grandma I would have been taking the stairs the majority of the time. I will mention that after MUCH grief from the staff they finally agreed to fix the ac unit. It took some convincing, but after many conversations and waiting this was taken care of.

The staff was down right rude and disrespectful. This floored me since they are in the business of working with the public everyday. I already mentioned the grief they gave us to get the items fixed in our room. When speaking to them about that they gave us a list of reasons why they, at first, wouldn't fix the unit. Then upon checking out we left our cell phone locked in the room. We called the on call person and upon telling them we needed to get back in our room they exhaled and said 'there's always something.' They were VERY unaccommodating. They wanted us to wait an hour and a half to get in the room stating that there wasn't anyone on call nearby that could let us in...not even the maintenance man. Needless to say this resort was the rudiest people I have ever had to deal with during a stay.

If it wasn't for our extended family, a wedding celebration, and beach time this trip would have been a total bummer! I recommend you go some where else.

First, allow me to apologize for the delay in responding to this review but, wanted to have facts in hand before responding to insure fairness and accuracy. Please let me say how much we appreciate your taking the time to review our resort. I would like to respond to several of the issues mentioned in your review. I would also like to mention that we understand your party was upset because of a decision made regarding a request made during your stay. We understand there was a large group occupying several condos over the Memorial Day Holiday weekend and that you were here for a wedding. One guest with the wedding party, asked for permission to boil 100 pounds of shrimp on the deck for 50 people on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. We were not able to honor that request and realize that it resulted in bad feelings. However, we must abide by policies established for the safety and enjoyment of all guests. Allowing a large shrimp boil/cooker on the deck with children and lots of guests around is not safe. We were told by members of the various condos that you would be submitting negative reviews on TripAdvisor and you have certainly carried through. Again, we regret there were bad feelings but must take the comfort and safety of all into consideration.

There were two service requests submitted during your stay. One for the A/C and one for the refrigerator. Both service calls were completed within 24 hours. This was verified by both work order and service company records. Other issues mentioned were not reported. Nor were theses issues reported by guest who departed ahead of you or the family that stayed following you. We try to have everything working on arrival. Sometimes appliances. A?C units do require service. We do try to remedy problems as quickly as possible.

I was not personal witness to conversations between you and staff members. I can only attest to the many years of service and the many compliments we consistently receive remarking on their helpfulness and their obvious desire to provide excellent service.

Ram Sea is a beautiful resort. We receive wonderful comment cards on accommodations along with compliments on our staff on a regular basis. We are not perfect however. We do occasionally "drop the ball" but it is never intentional and is usually quickly rectified. Please forgive us for whatever we have done to create bad feelings. Again...we would never purposely do so. Please understand that decisions made regarding the shrimp boil were made with concern for the comfort and safety of the majority in mind. Thank you again for your time.
