Despite the loveliness of the hotel and staff, I must say our room 306 was very unpleasant. We visited from Boston and were looking forward the the quiet, peace and sunlight in Florida. Instead we got a dark, noisy room. The windows are blocked with heavy wooden shutters we could not even open-so no Florida sunlight. Plus, the room borders the parking lot on one side and the restaurant on the other, so with hoards of people walking past all night there was NO silence or privacy. The exit door right outside our room banged all night long (not a hydrolic door) and the door to our patio would not properly close. To top it all, our room is a few yards from the back entrance to the restaurant. It's where the dumpsters are, and where the staff smoke and swear all night (thus our room smelled like smoke). There is activity out there until 2 am and back again at 5:30, when the dishwasher comes in and starts hosing down the parking lot with ammonia. Thus, we wee awakened to the toxic smell of ammonia. Then the trash truck comes, serenading us with the sounds of smashing glass and whirring gears. And, at night, this dark, sunless room brightens up from all the flood lights in the parking lot.
This room apparently costs the same as the others. Do not book it. I am so upset by this experience. I look forward to going home so that I can get a full night's sleep. I recommend booking a room on the bridge side (you'd still have the noise of the traffic and the drawbridge alarms.
