We reserved a 2 BR, 2 Bath directly with an owner. (Suite 502) Reading their description and having answered our questions affirmatively, we were directed to call Oceanfront with deposit and other info. No problem, though a week went by and I still didn't have a deposit receipt. Called again and they had my CC info, but hadn't run the card. So we firmed that up to ensure we had the reservation.
Oceanfront is in, what we think is, a great location in New Smyrna Beach. Short walking distance to Flager Ave, beautiful beach and great view of the Atlantic from our 5th floor unit. Unfortunately, the accommodation was not as nice as advertised. Definitely an older building that was being refurbished. Outside the room and in the lobby area, seemed like they have done this. But the room still has a ways to go. Bathroom was only partially done with an odd paint job and signs of age. The chairs on the balcony looked like they needed to be replaced, and I would have only sat in them on a towel. (But the number of towels was pretty limited, so no extras for that. "All new appliances" in 2008 was advertised, but the stove already looked 10 years old and the refrigerator has rust spots on the side toward the sink. Lamps were missing shades and at least half the light switches controlled nothing. We had asked the owner about televisions and were correctly told each room had one. However, the one in the Master BR had no sound. Very dusty and obviously has about had it. We also booked this room because we needed internet access. "Wireless internet access" was advertised on the owner's VRBO site, as well as on Oceania's website. However, this was only true if you were down in the lobby. Have never seen anything advertised as having wireless access, yet that access was not in the room! We were told if we wanted wireless in the room, it was $15 a day. Couldn't prove that, as we didn't have enough signal for anything to even purchase. Explained this to a couple different receptionists, but they didn't offer any other option than using our computer in the lobby. (As long as it wasn't Sunday morning when they were having a church service...) I had also mentioned some of the room issues, the receptionist immediately asked if we wanted to move to a different room, but we were only stayed for a few days and were leaving the next morning. I did appreciate the offer, however. As some have said, "maid service" involved a weekday morning knock on the door, replacement of towels and emptying of garbage. Don't usually get that with a condo rental, so it was fine.
Overall, fair enough for a short stay, though I wouldn't call $170 a night "cheap." We were only in the room after dark, so tolerable. But if I was basing my vacation around pool and beach where I was hanging around the building most of the time, I'd probably look elsewhere. (Though the pool looked decent and the ocean and beach looked great. Other than the fact this is a 'driveable' part of the beach.)

We recently noticed the review from JENNMC regarding a March 2010 stay in our unit. We are always grateful for customer feedback and thanked her for the review. We love New Smyrna Beach (NSB) and the family-friendly atmosphere it offers. We are excited to update our unit this month with new carpeting, dining seating, patio seating, and lamps. We hope everyone who stays with us can feel at home and enjoy NSB as much as we do!
