We were in Naples on business. We booked this hotel through hotels.com.initially for 2 nights, but upon arrival realized we would be there an extra day so we added another night for a total of 3 nights. On the second day of our stay, I called the front desk to confirm we would be there an extra day and the girl confirmed she had received the information. I asked if we could have the same room without moving out to another room in the morning before going to work and she said no problem. I asked if we had to recheck in with the desk in the morning and she said it was not necessary as she made a note that we would be using the same room. The next day, we left the hotel at 7:30AM and returned at 6:50PM. When we went into our room it was completely empty! Every single thing we left was gone. This included a bag with a camera and personal items including clothing, shoes and perfume, bags of groceries including wine we had purchased the evening before to take with us to the Everglades once we completed our business trip, and a stocked refridgerator with just purchased items as well. The hotels story on our missing items changed several times including the one they told the police when we called them. After first telling us there were no items in the room, they next said we had no reservation, then changed that story when the police showed up. After 3 trips to housekeeping they found items they said were not there the first 2 times they looked. They returned only an empty cooler with paper plates! They told us to take that and be happy with it. We were clearly not happy and and when we asked to speak with the manager, we were told he was not there, but if we were going to accuse them of taking our belongings we had to leave the hotel. The police informed us that because it is private property,we had to leave but they were shocked by this as well, but we left. The next day we called to speak with the manager. He dodged our calls. He told us via the police he didn't want or have to speak with us. SIMPLY SHOCKING!! The police informed us our recourse was to go to the better business bureau, write to the Naples Daily News and go to tripadvisor and other consumer avenues including our credit card company. Also it remains an open criminal investigation. Bottom line we lost our belongings and there was absolutely no accountability. We will pursue this to the fullest extent including going to Best Westerns corporate office. DO NOT STAY HERE even if its the last available place in Naples. You will surely regret it.
