This is a historic hotel in a small old town in Florida, so one's expectation should be commensurate with that fact. While updating the carpet in the rooms would be a nice touch, it was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It had been updated! The setting on the lake is stunning, the town quaint with any number of good places to eat and many interesting shops. Although we did not eat lunch or dinner at the Inn, we thoroughly enjoyed cocktails on the porch in rocking chairs, over -looking the beautiful lake. Service was very friendly, in the lounge, on the porch and at breakfast. The front desk was less helpful with information about local activities than one would expect, but did direct us to the Chamber of Commerce for further information.

The room included full breakfast for two and was cooked perfectly to order and was above par.

I am a very picky of staying away from my own home. After reading reviews on this Inn I was almost afraid of staying at this Inn. In fact I wanted to cancel, but my husband convinced me to stay at the Inn. I agree somethings need to be repaired, however you need to remember the Inn is over 100 years old. If you want to spend your vacation in your room the Lakeside Inn is not the place. But this Inn has charm, every member of the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The restaurant was very nice, the servers were extremely attentive. The food was very good, not fancy just tasty home cooked food. I slept very soundly, the sheets were not scratchy, the bed very comfortable. I will stay again.

My husband & I recently got married at the Lakeside Inn. The location itself and historical beauty are amazing. We had our ceremony under the giant live oak trees right beside the beach/lakeside with the sun setting right behind us over the water. All my guests were telling us later how stunning the location was & that they never knew that it existed or was so close! The service for the reception was well dressed, very professional, and made all the guests feel catered to. The rooms are very quaint and comfy with only walking distance to shops and parks. Lisa Morgan is the head of the Sales & Catering department and also offers her services as a Wedding Consultant & Coordinator. Working with Lisa is awesome! She will listen to every idea you have and will do everything possible to bring it to life, she also is awesome working with "budget couples" like us who want to have the "WOW" factor without breaking the bank. The ceremony & reception options range from a small intimate affair to grand opulence; the same with the food & beverage choices. So much variety for the best deals that will keep your wallet happy. Lisa is also part of a trio of event magic makers called "3 Wise Women Events" that help to make your wedding or other special occasion memorable for everyone!

The Inn is a historical place - we stayed in the rooms which allowed dogs - very old but quaint - bed extremely comfortable - complimentary breakfast was a full breakfast and very good - the only disappointment was the lack of outdoor spots for dogs - Mt Dora states it is a dog friendly town - only found 4 eateries that would accept dogs - mexican (very good) - a cuban restaurant (good) Lakeside Inn on the porch - and there was one other - rather experience (can't remember the name)
