My lady and I stayed over the New Year holiday weekend and our room was filthy and the breakfast was horrible. The inn keeper seemed a little stand offish. The whole hamlet shuts down at dark. The property is beautiful though.

We arrived on a cool December Sunday evening. The Helong was dressed in the lights and decorations of the Christmas season. We wanted a place to get away from the city life, and boy did we find it! The Helong is a beautiful Mansion placed in a piece of old world Florida.
We stayed in the Carriage House for a bit more privacy. I had flowers sent to the Mansion and the staff had them displayed in our room when we arrived. The upstairs balcony was our special place. Because the nights are cooler in December it was a great place to sit and talk and even do a little slow dancing to some soft tunes of decades gone by. The town is small, and can easily been seen in a few hours. Quaint shops and good simple food is available. We will had a great time and took many photos to remember the trip by!

I just spent a wonderful overnight at Herlong and could not have been more pleased with everything about this beautiful B&B. The owner is warm and welcoming, my room and my friends room were lovely and accommodating and I slept like a log. Our rooms opened to the huge second story veranda and she and I spent much relaxing time catching up on one of the porch swings that was the size of a twin bed. How can you beat that? the owner left out a wonderful wine and homemade cookies for guests to share and after a very restful night we had a great breakfast. Not sure what the guy from Tallahassee was complaining about, I've stayed in many B&B's and this may be my all time favorite. I highly recommend the beautiful home, I do not think you will be disappointed.

Our stay at the Herlong Mansion was an overall very good experience. We had been to Micanopy many times and wanted a place to stay near Gainesville that was away from the chaos. This B&B fit the bill. We felt like we were truly away and had a chance to relax. The staff was attentive, the room was good and the property was set up for relaxation. The place is just a few steps from great shops and restaurants. Our room was quiet, despite a full house. Our only small disappointment was the breakfast, which was fair but not great. We stayed two nights but niether meal was memorable. Despite this, we would stay at the Herlong Mansion again. Our overall stay was very positive.
