I'm pretty sure that a lot of the reviews for this hotel are quite out of date. From what I can make out, the Hotel has recently undergone rennovations, which have solved many of the issues that people have complained about.

Our overall experience was quite good, we wanted somewhere to stay that was close to the beach, bars and restaurants, but that wasn't hideously expensive. The President definitely met these criteria, the location was great!

The rooms were clean, and newly decorated. I liked the 'fresh' feel with the green leafy wallpaper behind the beds. Beds were ok, my only criticism was the fact that the walls seemed pretty thin so we heard other guests going about their business. Our room had a door to an adjoining room , and we could hear the neighbours TV quite clearly. Fortunately we had earplugs with us, so it wasn't too much of a problem.

The hotel was quite reasonably priced considering the location, and we felt that the $15 a night 'resort fee' was quite fair... this covered the cost of breakfast each morning, plus a free drink in the hotel bar each day, plus a supply of towels for the beach etc.

Would definitely recommend this place for a short stay in Miami, it's not luxurious by any means, but then if you aren't spending much time in the room then what's the point of splashing out. Stay here, save yourself some money, and use the money to buy yourself some cocktails at Wet Willies instead!

To start, location is great!:one block away from the beach, shopping and restaurants all withing walking distance. Our room was clean and spacious, windows facing Collins ave and right across from the elevator, so we could definitely hear noises. So if you are easily disturbed make sure you request a room with windows facing the yard. There is a pool but its pretty small and probably would be only fun for kids. I have joined my friends later but they did mention that they had some problems with concierge services but those got resolved, after that no complains they were nice and friendly. Overall you get a very good value for your money, as South Beach is not a cheap place to stay which does not necessarily mean quality. Give it a try.

We managed to have a room in the middle of the building which was spacious and quiet. Front desk was cooperative in helping us shifting rooms. I appreciated the minimalist design and cleanness, beds are ok.
Location is great! just a 100 yards from the beach and 2 blocks away from the heart of South Beach.
We really enjoyed the kindness of the people at the bar / breakfast team, always smiling and definitely giving a touch to the general atmosphere of the place.
I'm the kind of traveler who always forgot something in my room after I left, this time it was my phone with all my life into it (daughter pictures, professional numbers, etc),and I must say that have been very pleased with the staff (Laurence) who personally did the extra mile to ship my phone back home!
All in all it's a good value hotel, especially for south beach area.

Rooms are spacious and clean (we upgraded to penthouse room for a small charge).
Staff were really friendly.
Pool is a joke - never saw it used. The $15 resort fee (stretching the term) goes towards free breakfast, and one free alcoholic drink per person per night + towel for beach and a 150ml bottle of water each (never knew they came so small).
Location is in heart of sobe.
