“Great location, below average hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed at the Colony hotel for one night because the next day we were leaving for a cruise. We wanted something directly on Ocean Dr but also budget friendly. I didn't have high expectations so I was not unsatisfied. The staff was friendly. The room was very average. Other guests were very loud in the middle of the night. This hotel is good for a one night stay but if I was booking a longer vacation on South Beach I would chose a different hotel.

Dear Guest, we are dissapointed to hear that in your eyes we are a "below average hotel", but we would like to hear your comments and suggestions on what we could do to improve the hotel, to a point where you would prefer to come back and stay with us again, if you have the time please send me (Eddie Nunez - Sales Manager) your comments or suggestions to sales@thekenthotel.com, the more feedback we can get from guests the more likely we can improve our product by directly incorporating your suggestions and ideas.

“Walls are paper thin - if you know what I mean!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Had pretty much the worst night of our lives staying in this hotel. Our room was definitely a former 'smoking room' as it still reeked of smoke - so I asked to be moved - which we were... and the new room, although it didn't smell of smoke, was right next door to some horrible travellers... who were basically having a massive fight (a couple) between the hours of 3am and 6am. You could hear every word through the paper thin walls and I was literally scared to go to sleep myself! It was awful. That all said, if you can sleep through anything and you don't mind sleeping on a FUTON (!!) then this hotel is ideally located right across from the beach on Ocean Drive. I would stay in the Park Hotel down the road from it again though - much more pleasant!

Dear Guest, I'm so sorry to hear about your experience, we try as a company to provide the best possible experience to all of our clients, sometimes we are faced with other patrons who can create a negative environment, which in turn ruins the experience for others, the building itself is from the 1930's so we can sympathize with guests when noise levels are too high, especially our hotel since it is in a prime location on Ocean Drive with Wet Willy's and several high traffic establishments nearby, with that said I really would like the opportunity to gain your business/trust again, please contact me (Eddie) at 305-604-5068, ask for extension 3010 if you ever have plans to come back to Miami Beach, I can assure you that if you would give us the opportunity to provide you with your lodging needs again that we will make it up to you for the negative experience of the past, I am looking forward to speaking to you.

We stayed here for the night before we went on a cruise. We had a blast! the clubs there were great. The hotel staff was very Kind and helpful Harold checked us in very smoothly with no problems and the night guy Richard was so nice and very patient we asked him for so many things at odd hours of the night and he would bring what we asked to us every time with a smile. This was a great stay and i will be back for sure.

“Disappointing experience on the Art Deco strip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

This visit, we thought we’d “upgrade” a bit from the 2-star Starlite Hotel to the 3-start Colony Hotel almost next door. The Colony has a nicer front desk area and the rooms are a bit nicer than the Starlite (though the lighting in our Colony room was dreadful). However, the Colony service (particularly housekeeping and front desk follow up) was poor on several counts. One bright light in terms of service was the guy on the front desk in the mornings; he was very personable and helpful. Next time, we’ll go back to the Starlite, where the service was better and the prices much lower. Tip: great $1.99 breakfast (including juice or coffee) at Johnny Rockets next door.

“Best Art Deco On The Block”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

The 700 block of Ocean Drive in South Beach houses houses five hotels (Avalon, Beacon, Colony, Boulevard and Starlite) a Johnny Rockets and Wet Willies bar. The Avalon and beacon are the most expensive and the Boulevard and Starlite the cheapest. The Colony, which bills itself as,
"The most photographed hotel in South Beach" prices it's rooms a little higher than it's cheaper neighbors and is worth the extra few dollars. Across the street from Lummus park and the beach, it has nicely appointed but not luxury rooms (except perhaps the four Ocean front small suites). It is scrupulously clean, has a warm and efficient staff a cute, (particularly Harold the font office Mgr.), and a cute small, quiet lobby bar to decompress in between visits to the myriad clubs within walking distance . It's a perfect location for your beach party.

Room Tip: Except for the suites, all the rooms face an alley. The rear alley gets the noise from the early tra...

Thank you for the positive review, as you pointed out, the hotel is situated between two other buildings like many of the other hotels/buildings in South Beach, so if your room is not one of our 4 oceanfront rooms then your "view" will not be anything to brag about, you will either be facing a wall (buildings next door) or the alley way in the rear of the building..with that said, enjoy your time in South Beach, there are so many things to do, beginning with that beautiful beach across the street, that there should be no reason to be inside your room unless it's for sleep!
