I read all the past reviews before booking this property to visit with my husband and teenage son. I was skeptical of the comments regarding personalities of employees of this property because judgements about personalities are not always accurate. BUT in this case, they were spot on! I was astonished that a front desk gentleman was so deliberately unhelpful and rude. It started with check-in and ended with check-out. We were scheduled to stay three nights and packed our stuff and left after one night. Even at checkout when we asked for help transfering our points to another Courtyard, it proved to be just too much for one front desk employee to handle. And rude too! Another employee tried to help after I asked him to step in, but alas he was not able to get the job done either. Management needs to take a hard look at upper management in this property. Training here is seriously lacking.
Our room, an upgrade to an ocean front king with a pull-out couch, was MUCH too small for three grown people. My teen is not a little person. So this upgrade was not a treat, and I repeatedly stated at check-in that he was full-grown! We were also situated next to an elevator that was only in use during the hours of 6am - 11pm; but while in use you could hear the cables banging around in the shaft, totally unacceptable. Unfortunately for us the hotel was full and we were told there was no where to move that night, but if we packed our bags they might be able to move us the next day, but that could not be confirmed. WHAT??? And that is why we decided to leave.
Parking is very expensive and when you find that your car is parked 20 blocks away, you know why and why it takes so long to get your car when you want it. And since there is really not that much up in North Miami Beach, you'll need a car to get anywhere. Ugh! It was very frustrating.
We moved the next morning up to the Ft. Lauderdale Courtyard where I walked in, asked if they had a room, and was registered in 15 min. They immediately transfered my points and gave us a nice, comfortable, quiet room to enjoy for the remainder of our trip
Room Tip: Do not take a room near the elevators. If you are with a family, ask to see the room to make sure i...
