The Barbizon is all we expected:
- very well priced
- extremely well located (ocean view) but because of this loud, off key live music under your window, from 9 - 02.00 in the weekend. Until midnight weekdays. VERY MINDNUMBING!!! Take Oropax!
- if no-one is coming in too early, you`re allowed to stay until 13.00 the last day!
TIP: take 3hrs at the airport for international flights/ 2hrs for national flights and calculate traffic!!!
- very basic
- no reception most of the times, we were not the only ones having trouble arriving. Apparently you can just walk up to your apt which is open for you.... if you don`t know that you sit around in the lobby waiting for something to happen/ someone to come - not nice after a 16hr journey -.-
- not too clean (we took an apartment so we could cook ourselves, but besides the fact that the Walgreens `round the corner doesn`t carry many fresh products, the pots and pans were still full of others` food....) especially kitchen area & bathroom were dirty (I haven`t sat down on the toilet all week)
- no clean sheets or towels or cleaning during your stay but we had 4 big towels which sufficed since we`d brought our ouwn beachtowels (you could buy enormous ones anywhere for 6.95$ onwards)
- 2 beach chairs and umbrella in closet!
- we didn`t feel the need to get amorous in the bed, it was small and really not clean... :(
- don`t feel obliged to eat at ocean drive it is very pricy, Mayas gives you a discount but carries horrible food and service - Bellini is fantastic and gives you a good price (25/30% discount). Breakfast is good at News (10min walk straight on) and Central Perk has the best blueberry pancakes (next block). Don`t miss eating at Sushi Samba (15min walk or 5min taxi drive) at Lincoln (great shops much cheaper than area shops).
- Victoria Secret & Beach Bunnies right round the corner!
- Don`t book the animal unfriendly Everglades Tour at Walgreens, they support an alligator farm, which serves their meat in the restaurant and have a tiger/ alligator wrestling show. Better book a rental & the boat tour separate.
- Eating Downtown lovely and cheap
- Sawgrass Mills ok but compared to NYC & LA Outlets disappointing
- Aventura Mall nice
- Club The Mansion a must see
- Club Mokai a must do
With all this knowledge we could go here again BUT rather book a rental/ hotel on Collins/ Washington Ave. You`re at the beach equally fast and can sleep through the night.
