Checked out 4 rooms & stayed in the least smelly room. Carpets were horrible with very foul smell. Walls were dingy & beds were sunken with no support. Found hairs in bed in am from other guests..... !!!! Bathrooms were definitely not up to par !...Furniture was broken/ scratched & outdated.The television did not work,.Avoid this place if at all possible !....NASTY !

On my way to South Beach from Ft. Lauderdale, I asked a friend of mine if he could recommend a place to stay with reasonable rates. I spent a lot of money already but still needed somewhere for my family and I to stay for a few days. He suggested the Beach Place Hotel in Miami Beach. Never hearing about it before, I was a little skeptical, but I took his advice and checked it out. To my surprise, it was quite nice, especially for the price and only a block from the beach. It was clean and the people were very friendly. My room was a good size, larger than I expected and when I was too lazy to walk to the beach, there was a huge pool in the middle of the complex with lounges, etc. Quiet, unpretentious, relaxing and family oriented. Oh, yes, it was a great price. I'll be honest with you, when I return to Florida next year, I'll book my stay here so I can spend my money on South Beach entertainment instead of on a hotel room in town.
I must recommend this place to anyone on a budget but looking for a nice place at the same time.

I stayed there in Room 105 for 3 nights and was bitten each night. I saw ants in the room and just assumed that must have been it, or would have left right away. On the second morning, I went to the lobby and asked a staff member if any other guests had similar complaints. He lied and said "no." On the third night I was awakened at 5AM to the horrible itching and I ripped off the sheets to find bed bugs. I caught one and placed it in a cup. It was the size of an apple seed.

I have over 90 bites all over my arms, legs, neck, torso and face.

That morning there was a sweet guy in the lobby who was embarrassed because of the whole situation and admitted that many guest had their money refunded because of it, including my neighbors in 104. I later found complaints of bed bugs for this hotel since July.

I demanded my money back due to the experience, and when the MANAGER finally arrived 3hrs later, she looked me straight in the eye and stated that her hotel did not have bed Bugs. I produced the cup with the still alive parasite in it, and she refunded my money.

BED BUGS ARE A HUGE DEAL!!! They spread like wildfire. I now have to dry clean or freeze everything I had in the room before it can be brought back into my home or I risk infesting it.
I was just there for Art Basel 2011, with a weeks worth of clothes and equipment for an art installation. All of it has to be de-bugged.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! The worst part is its not over. These bites can itch for weeks.

Not to mention the place was nasty, not a kitchenette as promised, no wi-fi in the room--you had to sit in their tacky lobby. The poor embarrassed guy at the desk was the best thing about the place. At least he was real.

if you want a nice place with friendly people this is the place.
i stay for a few weeks in the hotel, after reading the awful reviews thought i made a huge mistake. the surprise was very nice. is not a fancy hotel so i dint spec too much, KITCHENETTE (not kitchen) was nice, clean bathroom and confi beds. the staff in general was very helpful (housekeeping and front desk).
the beach is only one block away, is only 15-20 min from south beach by bus, free WiFi, pool was ok and the neigbourhood is very nice, just a little far from the stores .
didn't understand the bad reviews but i guess you can't get every one happy
