“Trendy luxury on south beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012 via mobile

We stayed at the Setai for Presidents' Day weekend in 2011. The hotel is very nice, with a very luxurious and cool feel and an asian theme. Great location, right on the beach in the northern part of south beach, and right near a bunch of other hotels that also have lounges and restaurants (w, gansevoort, shore club, Delano).

Overall, it was great, though I do have two complaints. First, the hotel, though full, felt a little dead. It lacked the happening vibe of some of those other hotels nearby. Second, the service was a little lacking. We didn't get that personalized touch that we expect for this category hotel, and while I appreciate the keeping with the Asian theme, very often the people at the front desk couldn't understand what we were saying (an vice versa) in English.

I would still recommend the Setai - the positives outweigh the negatives - but they do have room to improve a bit.

“Excellent Hotel”

My wife and I stayed at The Setai for a long weekend getaway. We had a very early flight into Miami and arrived at the Hotel by 9am. The front desk staff and manager worked very hard to accommodate our early arrival situation and we had a room well before the official check in time. The experience could not have been better - we stayed in a studio suite - the room was 1st class- ALL the employees were very friendly and eager to assist. We ate breakfast in the hotel every day - the food and service were excellent. We used the spa and were please - the pool area and the pool bar/restaurant was great. The location was perfect - short walk to Lincoln rd -beach area was set up nice with great service- We will return.

“Nice "happening" hotel, but for under 30 year olds”

Nice hotel, nice rooms, good service, but for younger crowd. Pool area is busy with youngsters running around. But its good if that is what you looking for.

“Almost Perfect Escape”

I booked the Setai for a week-end getaway for a birthday for my wife. The first impression is "wow." From the incredibly helpful staff that provides a tour and explanation of the property to the beautiful courtyard to the spa to the pool area, to the beach and the thoughtfully designed and wonderful rooms. It feels like you are in an exotic Far East getaway and yet you can walk off the property and stroll the boardwalk into the heart of South Beach. The Spa services were amazing. The Pool staff caters to your every need even making suggestions on the right chairs to pick depending on the quantity of sun exposure you want and the time you plan to spend at the pool. The breakfast staff overwhelms you with attention and kindness. If there is any drawback, it is that there is music everywhere that we describe as spa-ibiza, even in the hallways, 24/7, which we only began to notice our second day there, but it is South Beach after all. This is just a great property and wonderful getaway.

Room Tip: From a value standpoint, the rooms in the art deco building overlooking the courtyard have partial o...

“If you want to splurge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

The type of service I expect when I travel to the Far East. Beautiful hotel, room has everything needed. Nothing not to like. Location puts it in easy walk of Lincoln Road and South beach. Would definitely come back to this one.
