Where do I start?
To begin with, I was on a business trip and decided to bring my finacee. We chose this hotel mainly b/c it was on the beach, and not too far from South Beach. How bad could it be? We had no idea what we were in for.
When we first walked into the lobby we noticed it was very very dark and gloomy. Almost as though they were missing lightbulbs---stark contrast from the bright sunny Miami day.
When we checked in, the front desk was rude, and barely spoke english. But for some reason were coming up with odd charges, for the room safe, room charge etc. Ridiculous nickel and dime stuff. Once we got past the front desk, we passed a security guard sitting by the elevators who looked disinterested and was sitting at a makeshift folddown picnic table.
We proceeded to our room on the 4th floor, the elevator seemed to be having issues, but finally opened. The hallways were very dark and ominous. We got to our room and it was filthy. At first we thought that there was a mistake---that the room was still occuppied. There was sand on the carpet ---and the rug didnt look like it had been vaccuumed in days. We were so mortified that we layed towels down and never took off our shoes. The bathroom had mildew galore. There was a kitchenette and the burners did not work---so I guess it was just for decoration. There was paint peeling from the walls and ceilings and the room was very damp. So mny lightbulbs were not working.
We decided to be good sports---we were in Miami Beach after all. So we went to go check out the pool which was okay and had ample lounge chairs. We decided to exit onto the beach through the pool gate. There was trash and broken glass everywhere- to the point that you had to be careful where you stepped. There were feral cats of every size & color in the alley between the pool and beach---with that many cats there has to be rats near by. Dumpsters wereoverflowing.
We stayed for 3 days and not one single day did housekeeping come by to give us fresh towels or sheets. We requested and they never bothered. In fact the room was littered with sand. The restaurant was empty and dark--- and plain creepy! The elevator stopped working on the 2nd day and you had to take the stairs which were dark and could double as a horror film set.
I travel extensively for my job at a global company all around the world. I can say this is the worst hotel I have EVER stayed in. PLEASE do not stay here. This place needs to be demolished----forget about rennovation. I would only recommend this place to any Hollywood director looking for a good location to film a horror movie.
