I stayed here with my friends in January 2012. The hotel is in my opinion a disaster!! The only thing that is nice in this hotel is its location. Now the rest:
1)you check in at the font desk (front desk staff is nice), then you have to go outside and go across the building to get to another building / entrance which will get you to your room
2)after this you finally reach your room you also reach the powerful disappointment from what you have get for the high price you paid: old room with old furniture, TV and old bathroom. The air conditioning is only cooling the room but if the night is colder you are freezing at night. The walls of the room are very thin and you can hear everything what is happening in the next room
3)if you have breakfast in your room rate – skip it. The only thing you can get is: toast, banana & orange fruit and bad coffee
4)only great thing in this hotel is 5 minutes walking distains beach
5)price for above: average $196 per day per room for two person + $25 per day if you have a car to park!!!

I do not recommend this hotel.

great location, large rooms but something is not right - one concludes the owner doesn't care with the upgrading this place. yes, internet is woefully slow and i swear that i was bitten on my lower legs during the night. since my partner said she wasn't (and she lives in mortal fear of bed bugs), i gave the place the benefit of the doubt. when in south beach, you can find outstanding places, for a similar price - stay at the Cadet (just avoid the 'breakfast' there).

Stayed here for 2 nights and I was really disapointed with our room.
The room we stayed in had an overwhelming stench of urine as soon as we walked in. As I sat on the bed I noticed that the outer covers were heavily stained and the sheets felt damp.
On a more positive note I thought the breakfast was good with a choice of toast,muffins and quiche.
The service at reception was also good.
I would not stay here again though.

I have always used Trip Advisor to look at hotels I will be staying in, but never leave any feeback...until now!!!
This hotel does not deserve the criticism that some people have given it.
Let me start from the beginning. We arrived in the early evening and was very happy to see a clean entrance and beauitful lobby with a very helpful member of staff on the front desk who explained everything to us and was very polite and friendly.
On to the bedroom and it was lovely and clean with aircon (yes was a little noisey, but once my head hits the pillow, I hear nothing). What else could I ask for? Room was spacious with a massive bed that could of fitted a family in, spotlessly clean with a lovely glass fronted shower in the bathroom and TV and Ipod docker at the end of the bed. Maids tidied the room everyday and we couldn't of been more happier.
Location was IMMENSE. Could not have been in a better place. Two minutes stroll onto the beach front, right next to Walgreens the supermarket that sold everything and I mean everything and best of all on Ocean Drive where all the bars and restaurants are. Just around the corner was Collins Street with all the 'posh' shops and Washington Avenue with more shops, fast food joints, restaurants and nighclubs. Nikki Beach was 5 streets away and Miami airport was 20 minutes away. Bus stop just around the corner where you could get the Local Sobe Bus for 25cents or the normal Miami buses for $2 that take you from South Miami to North Miami or Downtown Miami.
Honestly the only complaint I could have was that the hotel doesn't have a swimming pool, but how can I complain when I knew that before I went and also being on the beach, does it matter?!
Breakfast did make me chuckle as yes it is only jam on toast and a drink, but I see a lot of people enjoying tucking into it in a nice little restaurant along with myself. I can't comment on the evening meals as I did not eat in there!
Seriously, I got this hotel for a great week rate with my girlfriend and we were very happy with the whole holiday.
