“Probably wouldn't stay again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

This place is a hostel, so at no stage did I expect anything fancy, however this place was slightly below the bar I would have expected for a hostel. It wasn't unbearable but I have stayed in better hostels before.

I was in a 4 bed room with 3 friends which was good that we all knew each other. The room was quite dirty; little bit of dust in places and scuff marks/tears on the walls/doors etc. The beds sheets too looked worn (not dirty) just like the room. The whole hostel had a run down kind of vibe. In other hostels I have stayed in, everything is basic but they at least try and keep everything presentable; for example walls clean and painted and furniture updated.
In saying that, all sheets and towels came clean, the aircon worked perfect which was great in the heat, the location was excellent near the beach and bars, wifi worked well and it was VERY cheap.

If you don't mind a bit of dirt on the floors and a sortof depressing run down kind of feel this place would be great. Next time in Miami I think I might go for a newer place which would be a bit nicer but more expensive too.

“Great price and location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

I stayed here for four nights, and booked via their website. I was very happy with the price, really cheap!

I was in a 12 person mixed dorm, and there was an issue with bed bugs on the first night. It seemed to only be a problem for one person, I didn't have any issues, but they relocated us all to new rooms, and cleaned that one right out. So that incident didn't deter me, and I thought the staff handled it well.

They have a couple of computers for use, as well as free wifi. The common room was pretty big, and they also have a bunch of beach toys and umbrellas that you can borrow for the day.

The kitchen wasnt great, and breakfast was pancakes, which was included. On the plus side though, they offered dinner for $3, and I thought that was fantastic - the first night it was Morrocan chicken with mashed potato and veggies. It's not always easy to eat well and cheap when travelling, so I was impressed. My stay also fell during the soccer world cup, so for the Australia vs Germany game they did sloppy joes for lunch and a soda, for $3.

The location was great, super close to the beach! Also has a good shopping area.

The hostel was big on party life; every night they had a nightclub night where you'd pay $5 and go to a club, the money would include cover charge and a drink. Very social.

Cleanliness could have been better and one staff member was pretty rude, but overall I had a good stay and would go back there if I was going to travel solo to Miami again.

“A Brothel Would Have Been More Respectable!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

Where do I even begin with this place? I have stayed at 2 other hostels in the US and I enjoyed staying in both of them, so I am by no means a hostel snob, but this place is a joke and should be shut down.

In the time I stayed at this hostel I saw drug deals, people having sex in the room, police calling in and more filth than you would find at a rubbish dump.

Firstly, I should add, that there main demographic seems to be 18 – 25. It really is a party hostel. If you aren’t into that scene, then this defiantly is not the place for you. That being said, a few rules could be set in place so that everybody can have a pleasant stay.

The location is great, just a quick walk down to South Beach and the main shopping area, but that’s the only thing it has going for it.

I spent three nights there and I couldn’t wait to leave. My friend and I paid extra to be in an all female dorm – when we arrived we were told that they were booked out and we had to share with boys. They refused to give us the extra money back that we had paid and were not even apologetic. We had also asked to share a room together – we were put in separate rooms.

The first night, I stayed in a room where I ended up sleeping on the floor (this was by choice as I hate sleeping on the top bunk) and was woken at 5AM by a group of drunk British girls swearing loudly.

My friend, who was in another room told me that there were free beds in her room so I packed up all my stuff and spent the next two nights in there. For me to be able to just leave one room and stay in another shows you just how lax the rules at the place are. Also, they claimed to be full, yet the second night that I stayed in the room it was virtually empty, apart from two other guys. (This was supposed to be a female only room)

The room was noisy, dirty, (see attached photos) messy, and people where in and out of the place all night. There were drugs and alcohol just lying about the place, and people possessions were just scattered everywhere. A couple kept us up all night having sex in the bathroom.

I never had any breakfast the whole time I was there as the hostel always ran out.

The hotel staff took my friends clothes out of the dryer before they had finished as they needed to use it. (She had paid to use the dryer) They were very rude about it.

The police were called one evening as someone had been robbed and raped.

My locker was faulty and wouldn’t lock – staff didn’t care.

People were smoking bongs in the courtyard of the hostel.

I couldn’t believe how badly this hostel was run. I have been to 2 other hostels, both which were perfectly clean and quiet. Jazz hostels, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Please see attached photos so you can see that I am by no means exaggerating!

“Good to get sleep, close to Beach, Breakfast is a joke!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

I would recommend this Hostel for families or people that want to get some sleep. It is a little further away from the Main strip but not too far. Its not overly dirty and you may meet some nice people. The lack of a Bar though makes it hard to meet people that easily.
The Breakfast is a joke - I don't say it very often but it is true in this case. Every morning they take a bottle of pancake powder, mix it with water and give everyone 2 pancakes. They had syrup. Coffee is bottom shelf too.

“not good enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

I was before in Miami in other hostels, but I do not like this one, I felt like I was in the army. Promoting everything that is a place to "party on" is NOT TRUTH. Whenever I travel and stay in hostels, in dormitories, because I love meeting people from different places, but the truth is that I wouldn't go back to that hostel .... They treat people like cattle. The kitchen closes at 11.00pm, you can not have a cold drink or cook. I didn't fell confortable AT ALL!!!
