We paid $106/night plus tax to stay here on a Friday night in November, and I think that's a really good deal. South Beach hotels vary greatly -- from really dingy, cheap places to really high end luxury hotels -- and this was more in the middle. It's nothing special or exciting (certainly not luxurious), but also not dingy, dirty, cheap-feeling, or with the ambience of a hostel like some other places we've stayed in South Beach. Our room was spacious enough and very clean, with simple furniture. The lobby and entryway have a nice feel and all staff we encountered were friendly.

This hotel is on 21st Street, off Collins, which is within walking distance to the "action" but not right in the middle of it, which is what we preferred. It's a short, easy walk to Lincoln Road and an even shorter walk to the beach. It's not right on Collins like most hotels are but that didn't make any difference.

Only negative we encountered was noise -- we were woken up around 7:30 a.m. by some minor construction noise and talking from the street. We were on the first floor, with a window right on the side street, and it was quite noisy. Next time, I'd request a room off the street level.

Overall a good value for your money in South Beach and I will definitely stay here again. It's a basic, clean, well-located option if you're looking to enjoy the beach and the nightlife and not spend all your time in your hotel.

Stayed here one night on a weeknight. Based on some other reviews, we requested a room away from noise on the second floor. We got a room on the first floor at the end of the hall with windows that overlooked the street. So we avoided the lobby and elevator noise, but the windows were old and we heard a lot of street noise. After reading a lot of reviews for many SB hotels, it seems some type of noise, usually other guests, is an issue everywhere. We kept our TV on all night to drown out the street noise. Although we didn't hear anyone in the hallways, we could hear doors slam and it's easy to imagine that on a busy party night it might be difficult for all but the heaviest sleepers to sleep through the night.

The pros: clean, nicely decorated, and large room, giant walk-in closet (for a hotel), one block from the beach, short walk to shops and restaurants.

Cons: Bed was a bit hard for my taste, older TV with remote that was barely readable, they only supply one washcloth and two standard towels (one was still wet when we unfolded it and the proverbial short curly black hair was embedded in the other), carpet/floor is a bit lumpy in spots and there were a few ants in the bathroom. For an older building, the latter two are difficult to remedy and didn't really bother me. Also, the bathroom door is not solid - it's just the wooden slats like you would see on shutters, so there's really not much privacy. Our door was missing the top slat.

If I were to return to SB, I would stay here again if the price was right. If there was a similar quality hotel for the same price, I would probably check it out. Valet parking is $30. There is a private garage behind the hotel but it is more expensive (quoted us $44 for 24 hours.) Check out the forums for other tips on parking if you don't mind a walk.

Used this Hotel for one night before joining a cruise, arrived in the dark and hungry,the room was simple the bed was comfortable enough no safe so if you went out you took your valuables with you.There was no means to get food or drink in the hotel,other than wait until the morning (when there was a good service ),we didn't fancy walking the dark streets on a windy rainy night so we called for a pizza, which took an hour and a half to turn up.
It's probably ok if you just want to get your head down no thrills or luxurys, and it's not very close to shops and eats so you'll need wheels.

We arrived at the hotel pretty early after our cruise around 0800 in the morning. We were offered our room then and there (low season) I was so happy to unpack before we hit the streets. We found all staff friendly and helpfull. In the afternoon the young girl on reception gave us an exellent referal for dinner. There is a bus stop close by and for 25 cents it's a bargain to get around. I read the review before we left and was worried but don't believe everything you read, our room was big, enough packing space. One thing lacking is a fridge. We were on the ground floor and slept well. You can hear the road noise but I don't think you will get less on Oceandrive or anywhere else. Felt safe walking back at night. Will use again
