“A good experience that could have been great by focusing on the details.”

The Sagamore has the potential to be truly a great vacation experience. Upon arrival friendly hotel staff are welcoming and carry bags to your room with efficency. The hotel lobby is modern with art displayed throughout. The front desk is small but again the staff are couteous. There is an old elevator next to the reception with an expired safety certificate, and after some heavy rain there was a leak in the elevator shaft but it still worked fine (albeit slowly and with an unreliable room card security system).

We stayed in a Sagamore suite which is roomy for two, fine for three but a little tight for four or more mainly due to the limited storage space (no place to hide suitcases or hooks to hang towels). The room had a kitchen that was a pleasant surprise, however, there are no plates or cutlery but you can walk down to the restaurant and they will provide these to you. A little more frustrating was that when we requested the extensive and expesnive alcohol/food be removed to create some space in the fridge (and avoid temptation) we were told there is a charge for removal. So we hid the goodies in the kitchen cupboards.

Internet access was good and available throughout the hotel and I was able to download movies from iTunes will no problem which cannot be said of many other places I have stayed. The Sagamore package which for $18 per day (per person) included Internet access, a Beach chair and breakfast was a good deal as our three kids ate free. The food quality at breakfast is generally good the only issue being that it is the same everyday and gets monotonus quickly.

The hotel pool is wonderfully warm and mostly quiet and backs on to the beach. There is a bar by the pool which serves decent food and is not too horrendously priced. The only complaint here is that the towel service is really inconsistent. Some days we literally had to ask for towels several times before they arrived and the pool attendant actually reprimanded my wife for putting her feet on a deck chair (due to its white color) despite there being no sign or someone around to even put a cover on the precious couch.

If there is a problem, however, the best thing to do is mention it and the hotel management seems to really bend over backwards to resolve issues.

Overall any of the minor things did nothing to dappen the experience too much and when roaming around the 'industrial sized' complexes of the Ritz and Lowes I felt we made the right choice at the Sagamore.

CharlesC,

We thank you for your feedback from your last visit here with us. It seems that your stay here was enjoyable and we appreciate your input on the areas which you felt needed attention.

In regards to the elevator, we have just completed a renovation project in which we completely remodeled all three of our elevators. Sagamore does have quite a different feel than many of the larger hotels in the area and this certainly plays an integral part of our appeal.

Cutlery, plates, and glassware, as any other item needed for the room, are always just a phone call away and can be delivered to the room promptly.

Once again thanks for choosing Sagamore and we look forward to seeing you again in the future!

Best Regards,
James D'Agostino

“Girls weekend”

I stayed here with my best friends before we went on a cruise. We were looking for a swanky, cool place to stay while in South Beach. Even the choices seem endless we decided on the Sagamore. We stayed in one of the 2 level suites, which was nice and spacious. The decor in the hotel was nice in modern, I did enjoy the pool, lobby area and the grounds.
However, everthing is a little dated. Sleeping in is not possible because of housekeeping trying to clean the rooms pretty early.
I would recommend the place since it is centrally located and right on the beach and other fun stuff - but more for a trip with friends vs a romantic getaway.

Stadtkind21701,

Thanks for taking a moment to share your recent experience from Sagamore. We are happy that you chose Sagamore for your pre cruise destination while visiting South Beach.

The bungalows are certainly a great option as they are in a great location adjacent to the pool area and the extra space they have can be a great benefit when accommodating several guests.

I apologize if housekeeping came to provide service earlier than expected, as we try to encourage our guests to place the do not disturb on their doors if they would like service later in the day.

We thank you again for staying with us and we hope you will do so again perhaps before or after your next cruise!

Best Regards,
James D'Agostino

“Disappointing”

Unfortunately, for a five star boutique hotel, not what we were expecting at all. Seems like time and money has been spent on the reception area and artwork, but not much else lately. Stayed in a two story bungalow overlooking the gardens which was a lot smaller and more worn/tired looking than appeared on the website. Main lounge lights went off when they felt like it, WIFI internet connection very poor for what was charged and sofa missing (based on what was shown on the floor plan). Would also have expected kitchenette to have had basic plates, cutlery and not have to ask every time we needed something. Bed was comfortable, but lighting in shower area was poor and shower had cracked tiles and cheap curtain that stuck to you. To top it off, and through no fault of the hotel, a new restaurant had opened up two doors down - with music until 1am on the first night and midnight the following two nights. Again, disappointing overall and won't be recommending or staying again.

“Great location, chill spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

A great location to launch all things South Beach. You are 2 doors down from the glamorous Delano and walking distance to other great spots for dining and shopping. The Delano is a cool / hip property, but come in after dark and you will have to pass a rope line and the scrutiny of the beautiful people. After hearing the house music from 2 doors away last all night, I was glad I could go to our pool at the Sagamore and get a lounge chair and a drink without waiting an hour. It is an oasis of calm in the chaos of sobe. Talk to the concirge for recommendations on everything, he gave us great recommendations.

Room Tip: Ocean view or away from the Delano to minimze noise

Westender NJ,

Thanks for taking the time to share your terrific review of Sagamore. We are glad that Sagamore was able to provide you a quiet oasis from the hustle and bustle of lively south beach.

Our pool area is certainly a great way to spend the day as you can eat, drink, and relax, all from the comfort of one of our poolside lounge chairs or cabanas.

We hope that Sagamore will be your hotel of choice on your next visit to south Beach and we look forward to seeing you again.

“A beautiful hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

I loved the hotel, though it was pretty pricey, despite the online discount. I wish there had been free wifi, felt bad to pay extra. All the staff were amazing nice, responsive, accommodating. Location can't be beat.

Room Tip: the bugalows were great.

NBH,

Thanks for taking a moment to share your experience at Sagamore. We greatly appreciate all feedback we receive and it can be an integral part of us making improvements to our property and the services we provide.

With regards to the wifi, we have created the Sagamore plan which will include a breakfast buffet, wireless internet and a chair on the beach all for $18.00. This can be a great value as these services purchased on their own total over $40.00.

Thanks again for choosing Sagamore and we hope you will continue to do so in the future. We hope to see you soon!
