“Okay hotel and location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Stayed here 1 night prior to a cruise as we got a very good deal. It's not located in the "heart" of South Beach. It rained most of the time we were there so didn't get to sit by the pool or walk the beach. There is a boardwalk that goes along between the beach and the hotels. Along this boardwalk are access points for the public to have access to the beach. Not much for restaurants nearby. We were able to walk to a Subway.
The hotel does offer a meal plan if you're interested in their buffet.
The room was a bit outdated and the building itself is older. The window in the bathroom was odd and the room itself was a strange shape. The furnishings could be updated. We had a corner room looking toward the road.
We used the valet parking at $18 for the night. They were very nice and so was the front desk staff.
I believe this RIU property is marketed heavily to Europeans as I heard most guests speaking a foreign language.
You would definitely need a car to stay at this property.

“Alright hotel, Miami beach... Pictures are probably better than reality...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

This is an alright hotel, good enough pool, big enough rooms, spacy elevators, but still not the newest standard or interiour that reminds you off 2011... Location is nice, fair chanse of finding public parking in the streets behind the hotel, but valet is probably to prefer... Staff was medium, nothing i would remember for excepsional great or anything. Direct acsess to the beach from the pool like a lot of other hotels in the same street...

Room Tip: stayed at the fourth floor, perhaps a room higher up would give a better seawiew....

“Dirty”

Tired and dirty. the carpet in the roon was disgusting - needed a good clean.
Free Wifi meant one 90 minutes block in the lobby per day then a massive daily rate, and it was slow....
save money and go elsewhere.

“Right on Miami beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Clean quiet safe beach front hotel. The staff is pleasant, not the Riu in Mexico but hey your in the US. Good valet parking at $19 a day. Beach is great and the boardwalk is just out a secured gate

“Before you book this hotel, know the pros and cons.”

Don't expect anything fancy...It is true that you get what you pay for... rooms are not that fancy, but OK. The hotel doesn't have exactly direct access to the beach: The beach chairs have to be rented from a different company (they will give you a discount if you show them your hotel card though). The food at the pool bar is just not good. Also note: No need to tip, as they already charge you for service and they list it as "tax 2"...For the same price, go to the Gansewort hotel 5 minutes away, and have lunch on the roof (you don't need to be a guest to enjoy it!): view and food are great. Another thing to know: you are not allowed to take baths in your bathrooms! And not because of ecological awareness (otherwise they would do what other hotels do: give options of keeping your towels after one use), but just to save water I guess. The internet access is also tricky: you can only use it when in the lobby, not in your room. But the price is good for the area, and the pool is nice, although when I was there in November the water was too cold to even go in. Service is good, helpful staff.
