“Good price but nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

This small but charming and clean hotel at Ocean Drive was a nice discover for us. It's not easy to find acceptable hotels for about 100 USD night over the weekend in Miami Beach and almost impossible at the Ocean Drive. The situation is perfect just at the beginning of the lively show-boulevard and only 100 m from the beach. Helpfull and attentive reception. Very good relationship price/quality. Not expect a ***** Hotel!!

Room Tip: The rooms at the back of the bulding are quiter

“Runner Up for Worst Place We Ever Stayed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We booked online after reviewing the hotel site. The pictures definitely didn't match what was being offered. We ended up with having to negotiate stairs and a hallway with missing and stained ceiling tiles to get to our first floor room. There was a definitive smell of cat urine that seemed to be located in the ventilation system. The only plus was that the beds were comfortable and appeared to be relatively new. The room did not appear to be cleaned before our arrival - the beds had sand in them. Furthermore the door to the room had a 1/2" gap around all sides - the noise factor at 3 in the morning made for a poor night's sleep. We ended up propping a chair against the door for additional security. The broken window on the street side only added to the noise issue. There was no temperature controls in the room and the lights were on the same switch as the ceiling fan. In order to get air circulation we had to stand on the bed and unscrew light bulbs.

We had booked this hotel for two nights before and one night after a 7-day cruise. We ended up cancelling the second night for the pre-cruise trip but hotel policy is a full day's deposit for cancellation so we didn't cancel the post-cruise stay even though the proprietor was prepared to cancel the reservation - still charge us - and re-rent the room.

I've never considered accepting a $300 penalty for not staying at a hotel until this one. It was awful and I could never recommend it to anyone I know. Matter of fact I convinced two others to cancel reservations based upon my experience and will continue to do so in the future.

Room Tip: First floor rooms reek of cat urine. Can't attest to upper floors.

“the night mare experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

we stayed for 4 nights, unfortunately we pre booked and paid in advance prior to our arrival,
we suffered so much from the noise level coming from the mechanical room next to our bedroom plus we had no control over the air condition in our room. it was freezing cold all the time, no drawers or cabinets to place our clothe. no bath mat in the bath tub, terrible elevator and funny entrance looks like unclean kitchenette. never ever again... “Beach NON Paradise Hotel”

Stayed at the Beach Paradise from 1/29-2/1. When you get there you are told to self park in the back, and then check-in. You park in a smelly small parking lot next to the dumpsters, and have to carry your luggage down and then up about 8 stairs, past the hotel laundry machines, and other machinery. The elevator that you use to get up and down the stairs from the lobby to your room is ancient, and the permit expired in 2007. There is only room for one person plus luggage in the elevator. The hotel lobby has no air conditioning, and has a funky smell as there is a restaurant in the lobby. The hallway to the rooms have very low, water stained ceilings, and has a musty dirty smell. The rooms appear clean when you enter, but that all changes when you look closely. There is a closet with no door, and only a bar with a few hangers to hang all your clothes. No cupboard or any place to store your clothing. We ended up living out of our suitcases. The headboards and curtains are stained and dirty. Our 'night table' was covered in cigarette burns. The bathroom sink was dirty and cracked. There were 2 outlets in the whole room, one of which had the tv plugged into it, and the other had the alarm clock. So for all our electronics we had two outlets. At night it was very hard to sleep as the walls are so thin and it is so noisy outside. Our entire room was vibrating from the loud music in the hotel and on the street. We could hear every footstep on the floor above our heads. When we woke up, there were 3 bugs crawling on one of our beds, and 2 bugs on the other. These were NOT bedbugs, but other bugs.
We came to the hotel thinking that it had a pool, which it does not. It is in a good location in South Beach, directly across the street from the beach. The hotel provided us with towels to take to the beach. Parking was reasonably priced for the neighbourhood, although the lot, and entrance to the hotel from the lot was VERY sketchy. The noise in the rooms, and the overall feeling of being in a dirty, sketchy motel makes me not recommend this hotel to anyone, unless all you want is a good location for a cheap price.

“Horrible customer service”

I drove 5 hours from tampa to arrive to this hotel to find out that they had over booked the rooms and they offered no refunds, no other room options, and I was told that because I booked it through a third party they couldnt do anything else for me. The manager Georgie was very rude and did not are at all. I had to then argue with bookit.com to get a refund and go down the street to blvd hotel where I had a great experience.

Room Tip: Not worth your time.
