We stayed here for two nights before a cruise, and are happy with our choice. The hotel is at the intersection of 10th and Collins, just one block from Ocean Drive (and the Clevelander, if you're into that). For a hotel smack in the middle of the action of SoBe, I found it to be amazingly quiet! Sure, there's traffic noise and the occasional partier, but nothing like I had expected. We were both able to sleep very well despite the Viscay's proximity to all the action.
It's an older hotel, nothing fancy-but perfectly fine! Wood floors in the hall, laminate flooring in our suite, tile in the bath. We had the corner room on the second floor, directly above the lobby with a great view. You can actually see the ocean from this room. The living space is huge, with a king size bed, a sofa(bed), a chair, table/workstation, dressers and flatscreen TV. The A/C is wall mounted but worked just fine. The bathroom is dated but the necessities are there, and it was clean. Closet has a safe. The kitchenette is a nice feature, with a (near) full size fridge/freezer, coffee maker, microwave, sink, plates/silverware. This would be a good base for a longer stay. Free wifi-good connection. Breakfast in the lobby, but we didn't eat it (**tip--head one block down Collins to 11th to Davids Cafe for cafe con leche and cuban toast in the morning-super cheap and delicious!). Like a previous reviewer said, the lobby closes at 10.30, but you are given keys to enter through a side door, and emergency contact numbers are posted if needed. Regarding keys, the doors in this hotel are not the kind that automatically lock behind you...so keep that in mind when leaving your room for the day. Oh, and the windows do open, just raise blinds and look for the crank. Would stay here again and will recommend to friends.
