“Friendly staff, clean rooms, comfy beds at an amazing price in SoBe”

We stayed here for two nights before a cruise, and are happy with our choice. The hotel is at the intersection of 10th and Collins, just one block from Ocean Drive (and the Clevelander, if you're into that). For a hotel smack in the middle of the action of SoBe, I found it to be amazingly quiet! Sure, there's traffic noise and the occasional partier, but nothing like I had expected. We were both able to sleep very well despite the Viscay's proximity to all the action.
It's an older hotel, nothing fancy-but perfectly fine! Wood floors in the hall, laminate flooring in our suite, tile in the bath. We had the corner room on the second floor, directly above the lobby with a great view. You can actually see the ocean from this room. The living space is huge, with a king size bed, a sofa(bed), a chair, table/workstation, dressers and flatscreen TV. The A/C is wall mounted but worked just fine. The bathroom is dated but the necessities are there, and it was clean. Closet has a safe. The kitchenette is a nice feature, with a (near) full size fridge/freezer, coffee maker, microwave, sink, plates/silverware. This would be a good base for a longer stay. Free wifi-good connection. Breakfast in the lobby, but we didn't eat it (**tip--head one block down Collins to 11th to Davids Cafe for cafe con leche and cuban toast in the morning-super cheap and delicious!). Like a previous reviewer said, the lobby closes at 10.30, but you are given keys to enter through a side door, and emergency contact numbers are posted if needed. Regarding keys, the doors in this hotel are not the kind that automatically lock behind you...so keep that in mind when leaving your room for the day. Oh, and the windows do open, just raise blinds and look for the crank. Would stay here again and will recommend to friends.

“Great basic hotel in excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

This hotel is in a great location for South beach and all of the bars and restaurants. It is only one block from the beautiful beach. It is easy to drive to from the airport and is near alot of other nice areas in Miami too.
The rooms are clean. As it is on a main road, it can get noisy with cars and people walking by, but this did not really bother us as you do not go to bed early in Miami. I think some people may find it too noisy though.
The breakfast is basic with pastries and coffee in a sitting area.
For the price this is a great deal though and I would stay again.

“A Great Bargain in a Great Location”

My husband and I stayed at the Viscay Hotel for a long weekend over the Easter holiday. It's centrally located with very easy walking to the great shopping and restaurants on Ocean Drive, Collins Ave and Lincoln Street and it's just one easy block to the beach.
While not opulent, our room was clean and quite large (upgrade to the bigger room - standard rooms looked like they may be pretty small) with a large walk-in closet and a very comfy king-size bed.
The staff was friendly and accomodating.
Hotel services:
- Beach towels and chairs can be supplied on request (it's an odd,hodge-podge assortment - but it all works just fine).
- Small refrigerator in the room stocked with some juices and packaged pastries - But also plenty of room for your own goodies and bottles of water/pop etc.(several small supermarkets close by)
- They do lock the front door after 10pm - but supply a key to get in a well lit and safe side door. We didn't find this to be a problem at all.
Again, the location can't be beat for the price. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it for anyone looking for a centrally located hotel for a great price.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a larger room and ask for a room that doesn't face either of the two streets for a qu...

“We would stay here again!”

We were greatly surprised by the hotel. The front office staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. We stayed on the first floor due to no elevator. the rooms were clean, and the ac was a bit noisy but nothing to worry or not sleep through. The Shower was GREAT, be careful not to turn on FULL b/c you can splash water over the shower area and get the tile floor wet and slippery-i wore flip flops in the room and bathroom/shower area. The walls were newly painted, but a few cracks around, no fan- no big deal. The breakfast included is not worth it. thats ok we went to Davids Cuban cafe open 24/7 and had delicious coffee, and food anytime we wanted. 1 block away from the "night life" activity and the beach.Great beach access walking distance. The let us borrow lounge chairs and towels FREE OF CHARGE). we used the mini safe in the room for valualbes and passports etc. Quiet to sleep at night and clean/comfortable. The beach was great, shopping close, and a bit 40's/50,s run down (but not a problem) We shopped at LeeAnns for local groceries and cuban coffee to take home-cheap!! the night life on Ocean blvd was loud, fun and EXPENSIVE! fun to people watch and enjoy our coffee. We then went on a Bahama cruise via Royal Carribean (fabulous)! We wold definitely stay here again and the price was fair. thanks for all the help.

Room Tip: we preferred first floor for convenience of carrying your luggage up stairs.
