“Pictures look better than in person!”

Just returned from Four Points Sheraton, Miami Beach. I had some reservations about staying here after reading some of the reviews here, but my friends said they had stayed here before and it was fabulous. I must say the pictures of the grounds are right on, the grounds are super nice and the location can't be beat, you are right across the boardwalk from the beach. After an early check in it was very nice to hang around the pool/beach all day. We walked along the boardwalk and not one of the hotels that we passed had grounds that I felt were as nice as our Hotel. Unfortunately for us there was a group of teenage girls (had to be at least 100 of them, not kidding) staying here as well, OMG...laughing, running through the halls, screaming etc... they finally calmed down around 12:30am. This shouldn't color my opinion of the hotel but I felt like the situation should have been addressed more swiftly. I had to switch rooms because we were first placed in a room that the disinfectant smell was overpowering and it was very close to the elevator. They offered to upgrade us to an oceanview room for $30.00 more, I had already paid plenty, so I didn't go for it.The room that I finally ended up in was OK, not super clean as evidenced by my white socks and the bathroom was quirky to say the least! I have stayed at many super nice Hotels and I feel that this hotel is definitely not in that class. I always have great experiences saying at Marriotts or the Hilton family of hotels (Embassy, Hilton, Hampton etc...) I think I will stick with them in the future.

“Very nice hotel & recommend this to anyone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

We stayed here for two nights. The hotel was very clean and nice. The staff at the hotel including the valet was so nice and answered any questions we had as far as what to do. The hotel pool was nice (although Miami had a cold front come in last weekend so we didn't get to enjoy that very much). The beach is right there and is so nice too. Only complaints is having to pay to use the internet on their computers (we didn't bring laptops) and the pool bar drinks were expensive (like 7 bucks for a can of beer) but we brought a couple down of our own (dont think it's recommended tho). We had a King standard room- and it was very roomy and comfortable!

“4 POINTS - DON'T STAY HERE EVER!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I had a reservation here last month as it was the only reasonable Starwood property in the Miami Beach area. I checked out after being in the hotel for less than 30 minutes. I was upgraded to a suite due to my Starwood status but the room had stains on the carpet, the bed looked like it had been made by my three year old grandson, the furniture appeared to be from the 60's, and there was so much crud on the windows (not salt - crud!) that I couldn't stand to look out.

I have to say the staff was great, including the Manager when I was leaving, but this hotel is really run down - at least from what I was expecting and a total embarassment to the Starwood brand. I would not stay here again and had I looked at Trip Advisor prior to making the reservations, would not have made a reservation in the first place. The other reviews are extremely accurate.

Bad, Bad, Bad filled with what seem to be very nice people. I feel sorry for them having to work there.

“Older hotel in need of some work”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

The good - the beds were amazingly comfortable. Service from the counter staff could not have been better. Location is great right on the beach. Pool is heated and really nice. Hot tub clean. Pool staff very friendly. Boardwalk just outside of hotel.
The not so good - while the lobby has been redone the rooms could really do with updating. The bathrooms are tired, clean but tired. The hotel is older, built in the 20's so there has been some settling and there was about a 1" gap at the bottom of one side of our door, the other side was right against the floor. It is about a 30 minute walk to South Beach (or an $8 cab ride back). There are no real restaurants nearby. There is a free internet terminal in the lobby.
I would stay here again based on the location and pool

“Wet Carpet & DIRTY, DIRTY DIRTY”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

This hotel is gross! I was walking around my room in my socks because I didn't dare have my feet touch the wrinkled dirty carpet and my socks picked up wetness! Yuck. The hallway outside the bathroom is wet and there was water on the tile as though something overflowed or is leaking. I called the "customer service" at the front desk and they offered to move me to the room next door and said security would be by in a "few" minutes. Over fifteen minutes later security showed-up and escorted me next door. This room was even dirtier and the bedspread had dried crusty stains on the comforter. I then called the "customer service" again and all I can say is the name is a misnomer. Customer service is more like customer apathy - couldn't care less and not helpful. I could say the same about the room service. The menu is tiny and restricted for different hours. I wanted something on the lunch menu and apparently they cannot accommodate a creamy pesto penne instead of some mushroom penne concoction. They were out of the cheesecake and what they substituted Guava/Mango “cheesecake” which was actually a mouse not a cheesecake at all. So far I have been here for 3-hours and I am very disappointed and will be calling AMEX in the morning. This hotel is disgusting and the people working here obviously do not care at all about the customer experience! I should have booked at the Hilton.

Room Tip: Don't stay here - that would be your best room choice!
