“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

The Surfcomber is a excellent hotel on all levels, staff, room, location and amenities. The woman who checked us in asked if we were in town for something special and I told her it was my friend's birthday. When we came back from lunch there was cake and balloons in the room! Also we had brought a bottle of champagne to celebrate and they promptly provided us with champagne glasses. They also have a complimentary wine tasting by the pool in the evening as well as coffee and tea in the morning. Location is walking distance to everything and you have option of hanging by the wonderful pool area or a very short walk to the beach. The decor is very nice and hotel rooms are clean and well kept. Thanks to all the Surfcomber Staff, you are doing a excellent job. We will be back again for sure.

“Great changes!”

What a great change! I come here every year for a dental seminar and the former Doubletree, now Kimpton Surfcomber hotel is wonderful. With the updated decor, the hotel looks fresh and feels welcoming. (love your glass surfboard table in the lobby and the animal statues.) The location is perfect for walking to the Ocean Drive, Espanola Way, Lincoln Rd, and the beach. I love the running path behind the hotel. The new twist of having a free wine tasting hour every night is a nice treat. The new restaurant, Lantao was very good. If you like Asian flair food, this is a place to go. The pork belly salad was delicious and spicy!

A big thank you to Natalie for taking care of all the needs for the seminar. And also a big thank you for the evening front staff for your friendliness..especially Brian E. for taking pictures, the animals, and fulfilling my colleagues requests for different pillows and chocolate chip cookies. He made sure that we were comfortable and enjoying our stay at the hotel. Hopefully, he will be with the hotel next year! The entire staff was accommodating!

One improvement would be the housekeeping. They did not come to clean our room everyday until 4-5pm. Seems a little late? And they left glasses w lipstick prints. I did leave a small tip and a request for extra glasses and towels--which worked and they complied. But they didn't clean the around the desktops and bathroom floors thoroughly(hair was left everyday beside the toilet). The front elevator didn't work most of the stay. I saw that it was an inconvenience for ppl w strollers or walkers.

Overall, my stay was very pleasant. All the improvements have been positive. I would return, and plan on it next year for the dental seminar!

“lovely stay”

Hotel staff genuinely friendly and eager to help. Trendy hotel, comfortable rooms, liked the sangria hour in the afternoon and the coffees and fruit in the morning. Lovely touches. Perfect location on south beach, highly recommended. Building work being done next door, but did not begin till mid afternoon so did not ruin our sleep.

I recently stayed at the surfcomber hotel in miami beach and was surprised at the remake this hotel has undergone from the days of the double tree. Besides the cosmetic changes, the new staff members were very welcoming and helpful. This is from the doorman Guliam, to the house keeping. Most of all my experience was enhanced by the ever so helpful Lucia, Vanessa, Michi along with the other ladies and gents at the front desk, led by the example set forth by Michelle, the front desk supervisor.

The surfcomber is well situated in the heart of the activities of south miami beach and within walking distance to restaurants, clubs and shopping. I give a five star tot he staff that make the guest feel at home.

Room Tip: ocean view rooms with balcony is the way to go.

Kudos and thanks to friendly, helpful staff at this newly renovated South Beach hotel where we spent the week after Christmas, 2011. Great price and a bright, clean, offbeat contemporary interior design. Outstanding beach access. The following people were especially helpful and effective: At the front desk -- Reuben, Michelle, Lucia, and Brian. In the culinarily creative and enjoyable restaurant -- Monica and Houda. My wife and I had a great time.
