I recently stayed at the surfcomber hotel in miami beach and was surprised at the remake this hotel has undergone from the days of the double tree. Besides the cosmetic changes, the new staff members were very welcoming and helpful. This is from the doorman Guliam, to the house keeping. Most of all my experience was enhanced by the ever so helpful Lucia, Vanessa, Michi along with the other ladies and gents at the front desk, led by the example set forth by Michelle, the front desk supervisor.

The surfcomber is well situated in the heart of the activities of south miami beach and within walking distance to restaurants, clubs and shopping. I give a five star tot he staff that make the guest feel at home.

Room Tip: ocean view rooms with balcony is the way to go.

Kudos and thanks to friendly, helpful staff at this newly renovated South Beach hotel where we spent the week after Christmas, 2011. Great price and a bright, clean, offbeat contemporary interior design. Outstanding beach access. The following people were especially helpful and effective: At the front desk -- Reuben, Michelle, Lucia, and Brian. In the culinarily creative and enjoyable restaurant -- Monica and Houda. My wife and I had a great time.

“my visit to south beach”

Hi

I was fortunate to stay at the surfcomber a few months ago. What a great hotel. The staff were outstanding, from the attentive doormen to the front desk, to the rooms. Everything was "spot on". It was so nice to be close to the beach and hear the ocean from my room. I have been recommending this hotel to everyone I know who is visiting Miami, and can't wait to stay at the surfcomber again. thank you!!

Michele Byers Stiles

Room Tip: go for one of the ocean front rooms, the view is great and the decor is really cool

“Wonderful staff, great location, fun mini-vacation”

My daughter surprised me with a 4 day trip to South Beach, and had made reservations at the newly renovated Surfcomber Hotel. The staff, from the charming woman who greeted us to the people at the pool and the restaurant, couldn't have been nicer or more willing to help with any questions. My daughter had mentioned that it was my birthday, and we arrived in the room to find a card signed by the staff, a birthday balloon, a piece of wonderful birthday cake and a bottle of champagne! A lovely start. The rooms are small, as are the bathrooms, but are well set up and have comfortable beds and enough storage room. The lobby provides coffee in the morning, and there is a free wine hour at the pool each afternoon at 5. The pool is big enough to accommodate many guests, and there are cabanas and rooms that can be used to get out of the sun. Just beyond the pool is the long walk, bike, roller blading path, and then the beach and ocean. Many restaurants from local to elegant are within walking distance, and taxis are easy to get if going longer distances. Can't wait to return - if you're one of the lucky few, as we were, you'll also have a deck that doubles the size of your living space and overlooks the pool and ocean - heaven! Although there were a few children at the pool when we were there, I think this hotel lends itself better to an adult stay.

Room Tip: If you can get one with a deck you face the ocean - we were in 241, which can be connected to the r...

“Trendy little hotel, surrounded by giants, holds its own”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on a business trip to South Beach. The properly is surrounded by much larger, more famous properties like the Delano and the Ritz Carlton, but manages to hold its own by being competitively priced, clean, comfortable, and staffed by personable and friendly people, top to bottom.

I mention this because it is probably the single biggest reason to stay here, as prices for all of the nice hotels in this area are somewhat consistent. Everyone from the housekeeping staff, to the valets, and the front desk was friendly and helpful. I would especially like to say that the housekeepers were the most friendly and cheerful of any that I have seen in a long time, and I travel frequently.

The room, while small, had a king sized bed that still left plenty of walking room around it and there was a desk and a small sitting area. It was clean and well-appointed. The bathroom is small, and my only complaint is that there was little room to put my shaving kit and my wife's makeup.

The pool was clean, well manicured, and warm enough to swim in, even in early February. There are cabanas available, and a standard quality exercise facility near the pool. There is a happy hour every evening with a free glass of wine. This is a beachfront property, and there are chairs and staff available for those who want to lay out at the beach.

To conclude, the Surfcomber Hotel is a great value if you can get it for a few bucks less than the other beachfront properties in this area. The rooms are smaller than I would have liked, but typical for South Beach properties which were built decades ago when rooms in general were much smaller. The staff is the best part of this property and definitely go the extra mile and are so friendly that it will definitely affect your positive feelings about staying here.
