I was very hesitant about staying here because the price was just TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE for a Hotel on South Beach. Sometimes pictures that appear on the website are not of the actual hotel. Well to my surprise Everything was as it appeared on line. I was amazed at how beautiful my room was. 7 of us stayed there as we prepared to sail out to The Bahamas. We reserved 3 rooms, a one bedroom suite and 2 two bedroom suites. My entire group raved about how nice the rooms were. Its a great hotel to stay in especially if you like to party. Everything is near by, the beach, clubs, restaurants and shopping boutiques.

I was having a terrible day upon my arrival to the hotel and I treated the staff so bad..I acted like a typical diva. Despite my raunchy attitude, the staff, Alexander Pina, Daniel and Harold treated me and my guest like royalty. I will definitely stay here every time I am in the Miami area.

When I saw the locationtion and the curb appeal of this hotel I thought what a great find it was. The beach was across the street and the hotel had a European feel with a courtyard that spilled out to the street incorporating an Italian Restaurant into this setting. We were pleasantly surprised by the large size and ambiance of our rooms, however with a closer look we realized that these rooms were a work in progress. It appears that the furnishings were new and selected to complement the Art Deco feeling of the building and the rooms' artichecture. However the bathrooms looked like they should be next on the list to be remodeled. The tile was old, cracked, with some pieces missing and the floor in the shower wasn't angled toward the drain which caused water to pool in the shower corner and condequently there were some corners needed bleach to kill the mildew. The restaurant below provided a live performance later that evening of Flamingo music and dancing. We enjoyed it for an hour or two before going to our rooms. The windows did not stop the penetrating music. I was patient knowing they were to end at 11 pm. At 11:30pm I asked my husband if he had remembered the ending time correctly. The live music stopped soon after this, however the equally as loud "disco/party" music continued through the restaurants speaker system playing the same song over and over again until 12:38 am. Be aware if you book this hotel that this area appeals to a young party crowd and you may want to choose a quieter section of town if you are not into the party scene. To the Italian Restaurant, you have marvelous food (we ate lunch there), but the least you can do is play a variety of songs instead of the same one over and over again, and at least after the live performance ended you could consider turning down the volume of the music.

This was my first time to SoBe so I was very uninformed on where things were located. I wanted to stay on Ocean Dr to possibly get a view of the ocean. This hotel offered a great rate compared to other hotels in the area and a "partial ocean view." That was a lie. The hotel sits back off the street so there is no way you can see the ocean. The room service was horrible. They didn't provide new sheets and was late giving us linens. There was no microwave and ice was located in the alley behind the hotel. Again, I got a nice rate because I was trying to save but my advice is to pay a little more for something nicer, or stay further north on Collins Ave. It not worth your hard earned money.

In September 2011 we reserved 3 rooms for the Hotel Ocean for a one-night stay on New Year's Eve (12/31/11). We booked through Expedia.com and paid 40% less the hotel's published rate. (I called the hotel directly and gave them an opportunity to match the price but they would not.)

Since I had read in advance several reviews on Trip Advisor, I was not at all surprised when we were told upon arrival that we had been upgraded from Hotel Ocean to Breakwater Hotel, a related property about 4 blocks away. We were re-routed to the Breakwater Hotel in an efficient manner. We were not at all disappointed with this change. (See my review on the Breakwater Hotel for more info.)
