My wife and 1.5 year old daughter stayed at this Hotel at the end of January.
We checked in very late the night we arrived and we were given the last room in the hotel. This room reminded us of the type of room you wake up in after passing out at a college frat party.. it was dated and lacked attention to say the least. Due to a wedding that weekend the Hotel was fully booked and we were told we would get moved as soon as there was another room available. I expected the rooms to resemble the photos from the website but apparently they all differ. After a couple of nights we transferred to a nicer oceanfront room with an amazing view, thanks to the manager.
We had arranged for a bellman to take our luggage ect. to the new room and left a tip as well as a note with instructions to avoid confusion. When we arrived in the new room not all our belongings had made it. The high chair for our daughter, which we renting from the hotel but had a personal item attached to it, had gone missing. It was later located by hotel staff and returned the next day.
At one point one of the two main elevators broke down and could not be fixed for a few day until a part arrived. With the hotel fully booked this created a major problem. At times it was a half hour wait before the elevator made it to your floor without being at capacity.
The two pools were overrun by families, which were indeed rude! Finding an available poolside chair before 9am was next to impossible.. The atmosphere around the pools reminded me of Caddyshsck and the scene where the staff takes over the pool (“staffday”). At one point they closed the upper pool and I noticed noodles being pumped out of the drain. I gave up on using the pool during the day and decided to use it after everyone left at aprox 3pm. At that time I went to get a towel from the attendant, Pedro (very friendly), to find out that they had all been used and there were no clean ones left.. So I waited another twenty minutes to get the elevator back to my room to get a towel from the shower to wait another 15 mins to get back down to the pool… all this with a 1.5 year old mind you.
The beach ended up to be the best option.
The Valet was not consistent. Sometimes the car was waiting at the car port after I had called and other times I had to request it again in person.
The cleaning service was good aside from the fact that a couple of our reusable baby bottles went missing and we were never able to find them.
I did however appreciate the efforts made by the hotel manager to make sure that we enjoyed our stay considering that some of my conerns were out of her control.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I personally spoke to you while at the hotel and thank you so much for your appreciation in regards to the efforts me and my staff involved into trying to change your experience from negative to positive. I am deeply sorry that we didn’t live up to your standards and have to assure you that all the comments you left in your review will be addressed immediately.
We did experienced a major challenge during the days you visited in regards to the maintenance of our elevators and we realize what a huge inconvenience that caused to our guests. Engineering department did their best to fix the issue in a timely manner. As a result we had already given 60 days notice of cancelling our contract with the servicing company and we will upgrade completely all elevators.
We all at the Alexander strive to achieve higher marks than the once that you gave us and we do take all feedback from our guests very seriously in order from us to improve and be a better home away from home for all of our guests.
Please accept my apologies for you discomfort while staying with us.
We would love the honor to be given another chance for a better impression and if you are willing to visit us again in the future please contact me personally and I promise you a very different experience
