“Great Place to Stay in South Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I was in a large group. Most had never been to Miami.

The hotel is in an excellent location, across from the beach and walking distance to Lincoln Street, bars, restaurants and the Art Deco heritage society.

While there is a bar next door, the music was louder in the afternoon and over by the night. The rooms all face the beach and are long, with extra space featuing a truly walk-in closet.

What sets this hotel aside from many I have stayed in is the service. From the initial check in: the front staff, housekeeping and late night security were friendly, efficient and professional.

Overall this is an excellent hotel that should receive your top consideration if you are going to South Beach.

“Excellent Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Spent 5 days over New Years in Miami at the Tides. Despite changing management, the quality of the service did not appear to suffer.

The standouts of this hotel to me were a) the friendlieness and professionalism of the entire staff; b) the quality of the rooms; and c) the location. Nothing was too much for the entire staff, starting with the front desk (Francisco and colleagues) to the beach staff and room service. Everyone makes you feel at home, all done with a genuine smile. Super efficient! Rooms were outstanding - large size, great views, wonderful layout.

Location is great on 12th and Ocean - hotel stands out together with the Betsy as undoubtedly the nicest of the various options on or around Ocean - so much nicer than one of those 300 room hotels, or some run-down joint.

I would say that the only thing this hotel is genuinely missing is a better restaurant - given the overall excellent experience, it feels as if the Tides could really turn into THE gem of Miami Beach if it were to put together a more special dining experience. The restaurant is typically quite empty, and it is unfortunately understandable...

Overall, cannot hesitate to give the Tides 5 stars. Will be back there shortly...

Room Tip: Ask for as high a floor as possible

“South Beach Classic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Every couple of years I head down to The Tides for a few days by myself to unwind and relax. The hotel is classic South Beach, from the architecture to the room designs. Food is good but South Beach is right outside so no shortage of great places to go. No better place to stay when in South Beach.

Room Tip: Beach view for sure.

“Great Concierge and Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

The concierge, Fransico, makes you feel like you are the only visitors to the hotel. His recommendations for restaurants were perfect ( The Dining Room and Osteria)! The entire staff was very attentive. The rooms were huge and very clean. The pool area was a disappointment. It was small and shaded, no bar service out there. The beach access with chair and umbrella service were great. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant however, the signature martini was delicious. An added surprise was the complementary coffee and danish in the morning. It would be nice if that was available until 10:00 instead of 9:00. There is a bar next door that is not appropriate for small children to witness their "street show." I loved this hotel and the staff is incredible!

So glad to hear about your recent experience at the Tides.

Thank you for your gracious feedback regarding Francisco and the attentiveness of the staff.

Our apologies for the lack luster experience at the pool and external environment of the bar next door. We are working on upgrading our pool experience as I write this to ensure it is attentive, fun and friendly. As well, we are working closely with our neighboring establishments to ensure our guests experience is not affected.

Hope to see you back at Tides shortly.
