“charming old property that does the job!”

i stayed at Indian Creek for 3 nights with my husband. we were looking for a well-priced hotel on the beach that would be simply clean and comfortable. Indian Creek is a gem - we were placed in a ground level garden view king with a spacious room and a nice walk-in closet. the bathroom was small, but most importantly for us - was clean and had towels, shampoo, body wash, and a nice fast-acting hair dryer. if you are looking for flat screen TVs, in-room dining service, a large work space and the newest amenities... this is NOT the place for you. this is basic lodging - think hotels as they were 20 years ago - but in a clean and charming property with a beautiful garden area and pool. i thought the hotel was absolutely lovely and the service was good. we asked for an upgrade and received it, we asked to stay in the same room after booking two seperate reservations for the 3 nights and got it as well on a sold-out night. just ask nicely with a smile ! :-) they have a cute bar by the pool which we did not try. the breakfast in the morning was mediocre, but for the price we paid ($89/night) we are not going to make a fuss about getting fresh juice, coffee, and three types of pastries. it all comes down to expectations - this isn't one of those swanky chic trendy South Beach properties that rip you off at the end of your stay. it's a classic, clean, old property that has maintained its charming feel through all these years and fulfills a traveler's sense of home away from home. would definitely recommend it to family & friends, and stay again myself!

Room Tip: garden view king room

“Nice old hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

It is an old hotel and that´s the magic. The room was very clean only I guess through humidity it had a funny smell. The bathroom was very clean. The bed was delicious! and we really needed it after a very long flight experience including a breakage of one of the motors... The garden is a dream!!! Amazing!!! The pool looked nice, we were only 2 nights there so no time... the staff very very helpful!!! We had 4 different persons in the reception, but the 4 were top class, they helped us very much! The breakfast is simple, but the coffee and the juice was delicious!!! Near the beach... For the prize was a good choice...

“Pleasant old hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

It is what it is... If you don't mind a pretty dated room this isn't a bad place to stay.

The pluses are: charming lobby and garden; pleasant and helpful staff; interesting architecture; decent location, about a mile walk to Lincoln Rd or 3 blocks to the library where you can pick up the 25 cent South Beach Local bus; plenty of on street parking (metered 8-6, or buy a $10 24 hr pass); comfortable bed.

The minuses: tiny bathroom (your legs will bump up against the TP roll, your elbow hit the wall, and you can reach out and open the door without leaning forward when you are on the toilet). There is one of those retractable clothesline things installed in the wall on one side of the bathtub, but nothing on the other side to attach it to. In rooms that have a connecting door to the adjoining room you can hear everything on your neighbor's TV. Facility could use some infrastructure modernization -- things such as exposed conduit in the hallway are less than charming.

Overall, for me, this place served its purpose. If you need a bit more luxe, then you should skip it.

“Never again!”

We stayed at the Indian Creek hotel for 3 very long nights! The rooms are tiny, the bathrooms even worse and the beds uncomfortable! The complimentary breakfast was very very basic, stale muffins and juice. The pool area was large as is the pool but run down. The man at reception sent me on a wild goose chase looking for somewhere to wash clothes...the place he sent me to was not there and hadn't been for years! The men at the front desk were rude and abrupt. We stayed at 10 different hotels around America on our family holiday and this was by far the worst and definately not the cheapest.

“Bad news! Indian Creek Hotel has been sold.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Bad, sad news! The wonderful Indian Creek Hotel, an oasis of tranquility and charm on the northern edge of South Beach, has been sold and will be turned into a youth hostel by Fall, 2012. No, this is not a joke. The new owners plan to pack 4 to 6 people to a room and have noisy programs and bars and restaurants throughout the property. This historic gem of comfort, beauty, and calm and will be no more. We have been regulars and just returned from a lovely stay at the hotel (It has not changed yet, but workmen are starting to come around.) that, sadly, will be our last. We will miss the lush patio and pool, caring staff, and peaceful ambience. What a pity!

Room Tip: Streetside rooms face Indian Creek, a nice view.
