If you have longed to stay here like we have then you'll be disappointed too - from the check in when we had to wait for a cart to take our luggage - to the horrible room they first put us into. We moved to 303 also known as North Cottage - which had no view and were woken with the bed practically shaking due to the building of the new spa! The room was not cleaned properly as someone else's sock was found in our room and no one cleaned the terrace for the duration of our 3 night stay! The room service food was very mediocre. On the bright side the steaks in the restaurant were excellent and the Portugese waiter good. Also worthy of a mention is Howard the barman (whose in the process of writing a book about the comings and goings which I'm sure will be facinating).
The ferry trip over to the island was a good service and you never wait long as they are continuous. Also the security was excellent - no one can gain access to the island unless a guest and then they have to be on the guest list....
All in all - don't bother - the main lake smelt, the pool area tiles were dirty and the mosquitos round the bar plentiful! All in all it was very disappointing - maybe it was good when it was first built but it looks like it needs a revamp and being off season looked empty and unkept...

When you arrive on the island, you feel like your holiday has started immediately. After been taken to your 'room'- it is more a little appartment- they hand you over the keys to your golf kart, which is your transportation during your stay. They have different restaurants on the island you can eat at, which are good/great. The fitness is perfect. Also the beach and the views are very nice. The only thing we could complain about is that they do not do laundry during the weekend. That beeing said, you have your own washing machine and tumbler, but who wants to use these during his/her holiday?!

This place is a gem. Everything has been recently redone. Drive your car on the ferry, and park it... use a golf cart to get around. Beach, tennis, golf, restaurants.... this place has it all. And it is so safe. And all the fabulous food, shopping and nightlife is a ferry ride away. It is quite though!

Have stayed here several times. This time with two kids in tow. Hotel made some changes after renovating the beach club. Everything continues to be excellent here. The manager made some much appreciated moves to accommodate us as a family. Only thing this place could use is a small pool for people who can't swim as the regular pool goes to 5 feet deep right after the stairs. It is not fun for us with the small children to use the pool. Other problem is we nearly missed our flight to the airport -- when there is a lot of traffic on the causeway to Miami Beach, it could take a taxi an hour to meet the ferry and the security guard on duty was not sympathetic to our desire not to miss our flight home late night during a holiday weekend. Basically, you must allow extra time for a taxi to meet the ferry at high peak times. They have moved the aviary to a new location and made it quite pretty and there is a resident astronomer in training who will show you the island's observatory and telescope at night. We also love the playground at the local school.We also like the fact that the food and beverage prices are very reasonable and the outlets are all excellent. Quite a cool place all around.
