Read the reviews and figured this would be a good hotel on a budget. Was just looking for a clean safe place to stay. When people say, " If you are picky this is not for you." Are just wrong. It has nothing to do with being picky....it is more like. " If you are trashy and do not care about your health or safety this place is for you." When you walk in it is just a hall with doors, no lobby or front desk. This place is old, run down, and just plain nasty. It needs to be shut down. We could'nt even stay one night. We ran out of there so fast. What made it worse was the price, when you look at what you get you are really over paying. Just do not stay here. You will regret it.

I just returned from a stay at Island House in Miami. This hotel is not luxurious by any means. So if you are picky and enjoy the anemities at hotels this is not for you. However, it is very affordable especially for the location. You are literally in the middle of it all. You are just a few blocks from the Lincoln road shops, one block from the ocean and ocean drive and also a block from washington where there are a few of the big clubs and some good restaurants!.
For me it was sufficient, we really didnt spend much time in the room. But I have to say the hotel was pretty run down but for the most part it was clean. there was no bed bugs (I check at every hotel I go to!) and the maid came every day to clean although she didnt change the sheets and we didnt get clean towels every day but the front desk was happy to give some when asked. Also, you could get beach chairs and towels at the front desk as well.
The one thing that was a little shady was there was a little basket of condoms on the nightstand which kind of creeped me out and it's labeled the adult fun hotel.
They also have a pretty decent breakfast each morning which is a plus. They had waffles, toast, muffins, bagels, croissants, juice, coffee, and fruit.
Overall, it was a basic budget hotel and you can not beat the location! But if you are picky, do not go!

A good clean hotel in the heart of South Beach. Not much has changed inside since the Deco Days, but that adds to the place. One tiny gripe, the Breakfast room is too small.

Outside the hotel was a differnet matter. If you are going by car be prepared for horrendous parking fees $1.25 per hour (max 4 hrs at a time) hour 9am-12pm,or $24 per day in a Car Park.

Everything was clean... tv worked, they even had a dvd player. This place is more like borrowing a friends city apartment. Yes it's old and in need of some updating but when I shopped for a place to walk to Ocean Drive this place had the right price. Breakfast was a big big plus. I'm glad I noticed the stove and eggs in the fridge in the breakfast room... made for some good money saving breakfasts... Cereal, costco muffins, toast, orange juice, coffee, tea, oatmeal, bananas, and a couple more items to get you filled and ready for the day.. The place is simple, no lobby.. Very friendly check-in. Found a spot to park out front every time.. No free parking, but most do not have. If you are fussy, then stay away from here and probably all the old Deco hotels...
It's one block from Jerry's a new york style deli... the food was good but way way too expensive for what it is.... so unless you want to spent $18 dollars for a good corn beef sandwich... spend a little more and get some cuisine.
