“Beautiful!”

This is a lovely property. Travelling solo, I stayed on the 16th floor with a super view of Miami, Key Biscayne and the ocean. The service was good, and the staff friendly. I love the decor. The linens are superbe, as is the bed. I wish the pillows were a little more featherlike. (I think they were polyfill). The hotel is in a great location for walking or running. There's a little shopping/restaurant neighbourhood nearby called the "grove". Nice restaurants, starbucks, what more could I ask. My only complaint is, with the cost of these rooms, why do we have to pay extra for internet and local calls?

Room Tip: THe higher the better

“Holy Otoro, Another Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I have stayed at this Hotel numerous times and always enjoy my stay but this time was really special. The weather wasnt the best so we spent time in the Spa and the Gym, not a bad thing... As usual, the room was great with a magnificent view. You expect that from this level of Hotel and you get it.

Really wasnt into the SOBE scene this trip as it was Super Bowl weekend so stayed either in the Hotel or local for meals.

On Saturday night, we ate at the Sushi Bar at Cafe Sambal, we ate outside on Thursday and it was really nice. On Saturday, definately a stay-in night we went back, the sushi Chef, Mr. Wing and his assistant provided great service and a walk through the best fish south of Tokyo. Mr. Wing, when he noticed we were deliberating our order asked us to let him help and the magic began. It ended with the best Otoro I have ever had, 2 ways, first flamed lightly and second with a special sauce that was simply insane. Really, the best ever. Morimoto has nothing on Mr. Wing.

We really enjoyed the service and the Staff made the night special. The Martini Bar in the Lobby was the next stop and enjoying one of them outside with the city before us was wonderful.

Go to this Hotel, check in and don't leave.

Room Tip: A Dynasty Suite..

“Mandarin Oriental Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I stayed at the MO for a company meeting during the last week of January 2012. The whole experience was excellent. Check-in was swift and a positive experience. The hotel is decorated very nicely, so one immediately gets a feeling of being pampered and looked after. My room was large, nicely decorated, comfortable and quiet. It also had a terrific view looking back towards downtown across the bridge. The bed, ventilation system, enormous flat-panel TV and bathroom were all very nice. The location of the hotel is very good, and one can easily walk to other areas of downtown.

Our meeting was held in several rooms on the fifth and sixth floors. The meeting rooms were very nice, quiet, and had good climate control. The food served at lunch and during breaks was excellent. I didn't get a chance to use the athletic facilities while I was there because of my busy schedule. Upon leaving, check out was quick and efficient.

A big thumbs up for the Mandarin Oriental in my view.

“Iguanas included”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Arriving jet-lagged from London in Miami you need a decent hotel and the Mandarin Oriental is just that - an oasis of calm amid the skyscrapers and a man-made beach to boot. Complete with iguanas. Yes, really. All four feet of them - sunning themselves as you burn in a lounger or prop up the bar.

Rooms are spacious, cafe and poolside restaurant both offer sushi and fusion cooking. Service is efficient, even attentive.

You honestly feel the hotel appreciates your custom. Now that's something that's been missing around the world for a while.

Room Tip: Go for a bay view, it's worth the extra !

“I expected more”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

First of all I will not complain about the service because it was very good, however It is an expensive hotel (and the brand Mandarin kind of give you high expectations) so you would expect a better kept facility. Most of the hotel (if not all) is in need of a renovation. The pool area its OK not great. The view is great but the hotel do not have a beach. The hotel is well located but if you have a car. You can walk to restaurants but it will be a long walk. On the other hand the food in the hotel is excellent. I loved the walking path that they have around the hotel.
