“2 Nights was Enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2010

Front desk clerks very pleasant and helpful. Had to change rooms after discovering one of the double beds was unchanged with head & pubic hair still in it. The third floor has a cafeteria foul food smell with a smokey humid & stale air all thru the hallway. Bathroom door had splatters of who knows what and behind the door on the floor had not been swept or cleaned in a while.
Has all the basics but what's a coffee maker without coffee. The beds are very hard, second room beds were better. Housekeeping needs to be retrained, reveiwed, watched over or fired.
Price is right if on a tight budget abd you get what you pay for here. Location good to most everything. Needs a face lift and updated furniture, bedspreads without holes and new carpet.
Thought about going to the Hilton next door but funds were tight. Enough said. Stay again NOT!

“If you don't smoke, don't stay here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2010

Let me start out by saying that the two encounters that I had with the front desk were very positive. First, I took a red eye and I was able to check-in at 10:30AM even though they don't allow it. Second, I accidentally locked myself out of my room at 4:00AM only to find that there was a will return sign that stated 7:00AM, I was screwed! There was a call box that I had to use from the outside, which in turn completely locked me out of the hotel. I called an operator and the nice manager showed up a half hour later to let me back into my room.

My only knock on this hotel was how bad it reeked like smoke. It was all that I could smell and taste. I felt like crap after leaving after staying only one night from it. The room was cheap. The TV was like a 27" tube. To top it off, they didn't even supply coffee for the coffee maker. I understand if you don't want to offer breakfast. I can see where your coming from if you don't offer wifi. But for godsakes, please put 1 or 2 coffee packets in the room! I can't go out and by a 1 or 2 day supply of coffee.

One other thing. When I was locked out of the hotel. There was six jet black cats in the parking lot. I thought I was going to die!!!

“I won't be back”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 March 2010

Everything was as advertised: nice, spacious room with full size fridge, microwave, stovetop. What I didn’t realize (due to my own ignorance) was that I was essentially renting a fairly nice efficiency apartment for three nights. So, for example, there’s a coffee maker but no coffee; you run out to buy your own. Same for Kleenex. The hotel warns in advance that maid service is only once a week, but you can get clean towels if you ask. The room was cleaner than many, everything worked fine, great water pressure in the shower (unusual in this Age of Algore), and the staff was courteous and efficient. The neighborhood was safe, adjacent to a Hilton, and Publix, Walgreens, and restaurants are minutes away. However, the negatives outweighed the positives for me. I travel Florida on business, and using my laptop and Internet is a big part of my job. The wireless Internet here is dreadful, the worst I’ve experienced. I’ve had dial-up that was faster. It was so bad I would have paid $10 just to connect to something that had some speed. The other major negative was the noise. The walls are very thin, and we had some guests that reminded me of a college dormitory. One lovely couple shouted at each other for much of the midnight hour my first night, and the second night engaged in a screaming match in the hallway at 2 AM, complete with slamming doors, etc. A guest just above me paced like a caged lion, and the heavy footfalls actually rattled the walls. Every slamming door (and there were many) seems to come right into your room. Granted, I am a light sleeper, and the hard bed and thin pillows didn’t help matters any. Bottom line: for a small family vacationing in Melbourne and wanting a clean place on the cheap, you could give it a try. Just pack supplies and bring some earplugs. For a business traveler—and especially if you need to use the Internet, I’d say look elsewhere. I will next time.
