“Served it's purpose”

Stayed here for the half marathon. My stay worked out and all, so won't complain too much, but cleanliness of room was questionable. I arrived there and the first thing I had to do was go to the bathroom. I was shocked to pull up the toilet seat to see the urine and hair of previous guests around the rim. I would have gotten another room, but they were booked solid and my sister had already been given the room of somebody else (she didn't find out until she unlocked the door to see their possessions). I decided to stay put so I'd have a place to stay.

I toughed it out until bed. I moved the covers to find a receipt from the previous guest (I hope, I certainly hope it wasn't the guest before the previous guest). Pretty clear the bed had not been changed since the last guest.

Also, I stayed in room 319. The room had no window views. The windows were frosted over (to prevent me from seeing god only knows what). If you look at the hotel, you think all the rooms have balconies, but mine had windows that you couldn't even see outside from. It blew (since I'm from the northeast and hoped to look outside at the coast in February).

Would I stay there again, hell no, the Hilton down the coast looked so much nicer. Did it work out okay, sure, besides the grime and pubes.

Room Tip: Don't stay in 319. Frosted over windows with no balcony. There is no view, just the hint of da...

“Right on the beach”

This hotel is on a lovely stretch of beach. We booked a oceanfront room and loved our view of the ocean. We were away from the bar and didn't notice any noise related to the bar that other posters have noted. The pool is outdoors, but is heated. Front desk staff are very friendly. This hotel is very close to many attractions, such as downtown Melbourne, Cocoa Beach and the space center. However, it requires a car to get anywhere.

“Needs updating, but beautiful view.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Would recommend that you pay extra to have a complete versus partial ocean view. Simple Holiday Inn type room, but the balcony and the view make the room. The personnel especially the front desk manager are really nice and there is a fudge/ice cream shop right in the lobby along with quite a nice seafood restaurant with a terrace right out on the dune on the beach. There is a van that will take you to local restaurants of which there are many within a 5 minute drive. We were with little ones so we went to Friendly's for breakfast and my brother went there with his little ones the night before for a simple Denny's type dinner. There is a good Sushi fast food place on Eau Gallie and AIA along with a great pub. There is a Walmart, Winn Dixie and a Dollar Tree store there as well as a great little gamer place with video games and movies for sale. Walgreen's and a thrift store are just south a bit. That said, the hotel is in a nice location with easy access to NASA, an hour and a half from Disney and Universal adn minutes across the Bridge from the town of Melbourne which has quaint areas to stroll as well as a little museum. Seemed like a decent place to pass a few days. I have also stayed at the Radisson which is across the street from Friendly's, the sushi place, the pub, etc and where you have all suites and all oceanfront rooms. If you are staying with a family, you would have more room to stretch out there. The pool at the Crowne is better and the restaurant might be as well. The service there was really nice with the manager immediately jumping on fixing the pool heater when we mentioned the water was cold (they worked on it all night). Just needs a bit of an update and a bit of repair in the rooms. Only two elevators which might be a problem when crowded. All together a decent place, but spring for the oceanfront rooms and keep some breakfast and decent coffee for breakfast out on the balcony. They have little microwaves and decent sized fridges for the basics. Coffee needs to be changed.

Room Tip: Go for the oceanfront or at least partial view. Partial view would be great if you wanted to watch k...

“Prime oceanfront location with CLEAN rooms!”

Had a lovely experience at the crowne plaza. All of the hotels in the area look run down, but this one is very nice inside. We stayed in a king room and the beds were comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a little beat up in our room (706). Our room had a fridge and a microwave which was very nice for leftovers. The pool was small but who needs that with the Atlantic a few short steps away. The only problem I had was the door on our balcony was rusty and weathered. But over all it was a great experience.

“Great sunrises.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

This was the first Crowne Plaza visit for me and I was greeted cordially upon arrival. My ocean view room still gave me beautiful sunrises and nice view of the lights from Melbourne. The bellman was very nice to suggest some places to dine. The bed was confortable and no housekeeping problems. The location was excellent.

Room Tip: Away from the elevators and ice machines. South tower quieter.
