The service in the hotel and at the restaurants was excellent. My 9 year old commented that "everyone who works here is so nice". The waitstaff at the various eating spots were always smiling and remembered you when you return. I loved that this was a crowded spring break week but inside the hotel, you would never have known. The hotel itself is nicely decorated. The rooms are a little small but the set up was good with the separate bedroom area. All the rooms face the ocean and our view from garden view room was fantastic!
The beach is gorgeous but poorly managed. We inquired how early you needed to arrive in order to get front row chairs. The nice attendant told us to come down around 7:30a. I did so the next day and they were not even close to being set up. When I cam back around 8:10a, a few people began waiting for their chairs - which were still not set up. The woman in front of me requested 10 chairs and then left. The problem was that the 10 chairs were held for this woman all day. Two people came down around 12:30pm and a few others trickled in by the time we left at 2pm. I found this incredibly inconsiderate of this guest but also wondered why they would be allowed to hold those chairs with noone in them almost all day. Also, in addition to the guests there are also "members" who must pay some kind of annual fee to use the beach/pool. So, even though you may get up at the crack of dawn to get your chair, if a member shows up at any point during the day, they will bring out more beach chairs and put them right in front of you. They even flattened a three year old's sand castle because the member wanted their chairs in that exact spot. As a guest you feel like a second class citizen when a member shows up. On our last day at the beach, we were seated next to a large number of teanagers who were not guests of the hotel as they all talked about the various hotels they were staying at. One of them moved my stuff and took my beach chair when we left for lunch. They played music and swore quite a bit without regard to the children around. Later a couple clearly intoxicated wandered on to the beach and assured one of the beach servers he would "take care of him". They also played their music loudly which only caused the teenagers to turn theirs up louder. I love music but there is nothing worse than a Taylor Swift against Jimmy Buffet competetion going on around you. A guest or member finally told the teenagers to turn their music down. Nobody dared say anything to the drunk couple because by this time, the woman was laying on top of the man. We finally got fed up and went to the pool. As all the other reviews state, the pool is ridicoulsly small. I didn't think I would care about the pool when there is an absolutely beautiful beach just minutes away. But, I never thought a hotel of this quality would allow people to ruin the beach experience for their guests.
Were it not for the beach situation, I would definitely return. The service in the hotel is the best I have experienced in a while.
I would assume all rooms on the 7th floor and above have a great view. Get to the beach early for a...
