“Another great holiday at Holiday Isles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Just got back from Holiday Isles Resort in Madeira Beach FLA. This is our favourite little home away from home in Florida. Nothing fancy, just plain good. The hotel suffered severe damage in an August storm that blew the roof off, so construction was underway while we were there, making it a bit noisy, but hey it has to be fixed right? So we just walked across the road to one of the nicest beaches on the Gulf coast and rented a cabana for the weekend. The weather was great, only cold one day really, so we to relax, swim, read and eat a lot!
Tam and Steve are the new managers, and were very accommodating even giving us a discount and free linen changes to compensate for the noise and the fact that the new pool heater had not yet arrived. Met up with some old friends and made some new ones. All in all a great holiday. Best bang for your buck in Mad Beach. Clean, tidy and real friendly (pet friendly too for those with well-behaved dogs). Enjoyed many meals at the Southbeach Bar otherwise known as Screwie Louies Bar and Grill. Happy hour from 8 am - 7 and one night til 9:00 PM. Cheap vacation, lots of fun! Hope to get back there in the Spring. Can't wait to see the renos when done. Summer and Jim are owners and run a real nice place. Thanks again for great memories in Mad Beach!

Room Tip: Rooms are limited while construction is going on but the whole top floor will be brand new when done...

Thank you for making Holiday Isles one of your favorite getaways. Thank you for putting up with our rebuilding. It has been a long hard journey back after the Sep 7, 2011 storm which severely damaged our main building. We really appreciate your business, especially when we needed it most. Thanks.
As a frequent guest at Holiday Isles you know we are always trying to find new ways to add value and make your getaway a little more enjoyable. We strive to provide clean functioning rooms and appreciate you recognizing our efforts.
Sorry for being so late in responding to your comments, I have been busy as you know putting the building and property back together. We are about 90% done. The remaining work is cosmetic, exterior work, and not so intrusive on someones getaway. I know you will be really happy your next stay.
Again, thank you for your understanding and business.

“Not as good as it was”

My daughter and I stayed here in August after I stayed the year before with my other daughter and loved it. I understand management changed but some other things changed also so I was disappointed. I chose to come back mainly because of value, how clean the rooms were and the pool. The rooms are still very clean and the value is still there (we stayed for like 9 nights) but as for the pool I was very unhappy that they closed it before 10 on a regular basis. I am a late evening swimmer so this was a major inconvenience. Also we never got our change of towels as we were supposed to since we were there for 9 nights. We did not have either of these problems the previous year. We also had to keep asking for toilet paper so I finally went and bought some at the store. I would love to stay again when I return but I am not sure I will or not. I know I will if these problems are addressed. Please know though that the rooms are kept up and clean.

Thank you for your repeated visits to Holiday Isles Resort. I apologize for the problems you encountered during your last visit. We had new managers and consequently we may not have conveyed the importance of the devil is in the details.
Our pool hours are 9 AM to 10 PM. The pool will be open during these hours and our managers will strive to open the pool earlier after each mornings cleaning and close it later if our guests are having safe fun (remember our managers need to sleep, so later is not always feasible).
We offer a mini laundry service as our standard cleaning. We have had this policy in place for several years as a way to save water, the environment, and reduce our carbon footprint. This makes it even more imperative that we get your linens changed when we say we will. I apologize for this mistake. Please remind us when you make your next reservation and we will be sure to add additional linen and towel changes.
We have reititerated and intensified our training, commitment to excellence, and the importance of doing what we say with our new management team. We were out of state and the new managers were not properly trained in our expectations. This is our fault and I apologize. Tam and Steve are professional and I am sure you will see Holiday Isles returning to the place you remember.
Thanks for you feedback and you can be assured your concerns have been addressed.

“Not up to old standards”

This was by far the most uncomfortable vacation we have ever spent. The managers were not very pleasant. The rooms were only surface cleaned. They need to check under the beds and under cabinets once in awhile. Service was not real good. The one manager wasn't available much and the other was very rude. Outside area seemed surface clean but if you look really close the pool had a black ring around it and was never cleaned. We will not return again!

Room Tip: Please look around for a different place to stay. This place isn't worth the time or money.

Thank you for taking the time to express your views. We apologize we are not the type of managers you are use too. As far as not being available our office is open 24/7 if you needed anything all you had to do was ring the bell if we was not in the office but no, we don't sit outside & drink or socialize with our guest so if that is why we are rude & unavailable then we apologize but we are managers not social directors. It always amazes me how repeat guest will not give new managers a chance but that is part of the business; we have had the same situation when we have changed hotels, our previous guests gave the new managers a hard time so we don't take it personally but we do take it personally when you attack our hotel because you do not like the change in management. Our hotel is very clean & as far as the pool having a black ring around it, I'm sorry but you are wrong, not only do we work here but we live here & I'm not going to swim in a dirty pool; not to mention the Health Dept. gave us a glowing 'A' report (they don't do that if you have a black ring around it); everyone makes comments on how beautiful our pool is. Sorry you was unhappy, we strive to please everyone but it is impossible.

“Awful”

The room was awful. Ligh t bulbs were out and we had to move them from one light to another.
The bathroom had mold around the tub and the floor. The bedspreads need to be washed. We could not get replacement towels. There was HOT WATER IN THE SHOWER. There is a sign stating Tank at the other end of building..let water run. We did and had to shower at the outdoor shower by the pool. Awful experience...would not return or recommend.

We apologize our hotel was not up to your standards; if you had any issues you should have let us know when you was here, we could have moved you to another room. We always try to accomodate everyone, if we do not know there is a problem we cannot fix it. As far as the mold issue & the bedspreads being dirty, we have NEVER had any complaints about either one & we've always been told we are the cleanest hotel around. We do NOT exchange towels everyday, if you need replacements you have to let us know & there is a charge for extra (as stated on our website); as far as the hot water, your room was in between 2 other rooms & neither one of those rooms complained about not having hot water (actually, they did not complain about anything) so you probably did not let it run long enough (as stated on the signs posted). Again, we apologize for not being what you expected, we try but we cannot please everyone. Thank you. Tam, Steve & Diamond : )

“Customer service was excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

I just want to take the time to thank the manager of this Hotel. I recently made a reservation for September 15. On September 08, I was contacted by Tammy and was informed that due to a storm the night before ripping their roof off, that the hotel would be closed and could not accept my reservation. To some this may not be a big deal but for someone to call after only hours (not days) of having such a terrible issue happen showed me what kind of great customer service they offer. I know a lot of hotels would have called the day before we were scheduled to arrive or not called at all. Thank you.

You are welcome but no thanks needed, we felt it was important for all of you to have time to make other arrangements; our guest is very important & we want to make sure you still have a vacation. We hope you will visit us when we re-open (our goal is to re-open in Nov.2011). Thank you for your kindness, it is very much appreciated. -Tammy-
