We travelled from Ontario Canada and stayed at the Sea Breeze for 3 nights in December 2011. We usually stay in St. Pete Beach or Treasure Island (only minutes away) but decided to try something new.
Tips - management office is not on site - it's 3 blocks down and you must pick up the keys there first.
Upon arriving at the Sea Breeze parking lot, I wanted to leave! Our first impressions of the building were not great. (However, this is proof that first impressions don't always count!)
Yes, the elevator is slow - but not that bad. Maybe in the summer when it's really hot out the elevator may be more of an issue. There's just 1 elevator for the whole building so it does get busy. The staff keeps a couple of big shopping carts below so you can put groceries/luggage/etc in it to transport items to your room. Nice idea.
Regarding Condo # 508 - It is immaculate! VERY spacious, Super clean, and FULLY stocked. Full kitchen with EVERYTHING you could want in it. (Stove/oven, huge fridge, microwave, blender, toaster, TONS of pots/pans/knives/utensils/dishes/glasses/mixing bowls/etc...) Probably the best equipped condo I've ever stayed at.
It is also gorgeously decorated (not the cheap 80's Florida feel). Very modern. There's 3 flat screen tv's w/ cable. A/C, box fans, beach chairs, walk-in closets, tons of towels, etc... It's just beautiful with all the comforts of home. The only thing that was missing was some paper towel, but there's 2 grocery stores within 2km's, and a 7-Eleven across the street for any emergency supplies.
Bedrooms are spacious, clean, and beds are very comfortable! 1 King bed in the master bedroom, and 2 Queen beds in the second bedroom. There's an ensuite bathroom in the master with shower and 2 sinks, and the second bathroom has shower/tub in it.
The back balcony is spacious - chairs, tables, lounge - and fully overlooks the gulf. Nice spot to watch the beautiful Gulf sunset from, enjoying a few drinks. (There's a front balcony overlooking the Intercoastal waterway / Gulf Blvd, but we didn't go out on it).
This hotel is right on the beach - no crossing Gulf Blvd to get to it. The pool and jaccuzzi are clean, warm, and very nice. The beach is powder-white (not many shells unless you walk down it about 500m. This makes the water area great to walk out on. There's a public volleyball court about 50m down the beach too. And John's Pass is about a 5 block walk away - tons of restaurants and shops, as well as activity centres where you can rent jet skis, or organize deep sea fishing and parasailing.
People have commented on noise, and yes, there is some noise. The Master Bedroom is on Gulf Blvd so there's a lot of cars/motorcycle traffic. We just put on a box fan (found in the closet) and didn't hear any traffic sound afterwards. What we DID hear was constant stomping/jumping/banging from whoever was in condo # 608 above! ANNOYING! Learn to walk!!
Nice to have's: It would have been nice to have some kind of playground on the property/beach area for our 2 year old to play on. But he had fun building sand castles and chasing the seagulls.
In all, it was a very nice spot to stay. We heard from some of the renters that a lot of the other condos were much smaller, but still nice. I guess it depends on who owns/decorates the unit. Condo #508 was fantastic!
I hope this helps!
