“A premium product at a premium price - we were not disappointed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

The hotel and grounds are immaculately maintained and our beach view club suite was superb with stunning views over the Gulf of Mexico. The pool is heated to 85 degrees, with a plentiful supply of sun-beds and umbrellas – all managed by a great team of people – no one throws towels to reserve beds here! The adjacent Gulf beach is beautiful with white powdery sand – great for early morning walks and the amazing sun-sets. The beach also offers complementary sun-beds and steamer chairs. There are free bikes as well. But what sets the Longboat Key Club apart is the attentiveness of its staff. The front desk team was very professional and made us feel like valued customers from the moment we arrived. Everyone else also played their part - for example housekeeping delivered a corkscrew within 5 minutes of calling, and maintenance fixed a blown bulb within the same time-frame. The concierge was particularly helpful, suggesting numerous days out and making a special reservation at the nearby Chart House restaurant. When we arrived at the restaurant we had a VIP table overlooking the bay and a special menu with our name printed on it - the food here was great but pricey. There are lots of alternative restaurants nearby at St Armand’s Circle (5 mins) and our favourite night time area Maine Street in Downtown Sarasota just 20 mins drive.

In summary not much to complain about apart from rather steep bar and pool-side prices; a small bottle of beer ($6.50) and an ice cream bar ($7.50) after tax and the fixed 20% service charge, they even leave the check open for an optional additional gratuity which felt a bit heavy.

“Nice place to stay, this place is for relaxing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We were there for a week (which unfortunately was cold :( ) but the staff seemed nice, I would say nice, but not overly helpful but did do thier job. It is a clean place, nice spacious rooms, nice grounds. The beach is nice (though could not swim.. freezing!!) lots of shells to find. What is nice is the chairs and cabanas are free, which unlike some places that charge for ev-er-y-thing! There is not much to do on the resort except swim, beach, drink and eat, Golf or use the fitness center (which is nice but a bit small but very modern). This is truly for a relaxing, do nothing vacation. In regards to the restaurants on property, we only tried Sands Pointe for lunch and a dinner. The food was good but greatly over priced.. which is not unusual within a resort property. I advise going to St. Armands Circle and shopping and dining or down to historic Sarasota or numerous other places for good resonable priced food.

“Beautiful resort!”

Just back from my first visit to the Longboat Key Club - what a wonderful experience! The location is fabulous, the resort first class, and the hotel, views, and beach are spectacular. The hotel automatically upgraded me to a 10th floor room with commanding views over the Gulf, and the private little balcony was just the place from which to enjoy it. Spent time on the fine, white powder beach, which was not at all crowded and just lovely. The pool is large and warmly comfortable with excellent poolside service from an attractive and very friendly staff. Everything from check in to departure couldn't have been better. I've stayed at several nice hoels in the Sarasota area and this one is by far the best. Do yourself a favor and enjoy this resort!

Room Tip: Go for a Gulfview room on a high floor.

“Sort of Deluxe”

Ideally located at the beginning of Longboat Key...you are a very short drive from St. Armand"s Circle with restaurants and shopping yet directly on both the Gulf (great, great beach) and the inlet bay for fishing et al,. Hotel consists of multiple high rise, very ugly buildings with not much of a pathway to connect them. The main building has the main dining room where you also have breakfast and so you walk thru either a parking lot or on the edge thru ugly pathways to get to the main building. Rooms are spacious enough and most have terraces (ours overlooked the Gulf and beaches...very pleasant) Bathrooms could use some updating (tub/shower combo, leaky faucet etc) Staff is very friendly and helpful, parking is easy, food is better than adequate but not excellent....if you like large portions you will be in heaven

Room Tip: If you don't want to deal with the pathways, ask for a waterfront room in the main building, pre...

“Great beach and resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I cannot add much to the other reviews. I concur with all that has been said about this great resort property that is hidden in plane view. There is nothing that you will not enjoy about staying at LKC.
